There are 3 focal points to this season / thread that have to be under consideration from all Jets fandom
1. The Jets are 3-4 with Darnold under center. That's really not that bad all things considered:
One of those games he was stricken with Mono. All of those games he was working behind the league's worst OL. Even the Redskins, a dumpster fire that makes us look like a well-managed recycling plant, have 2 potential All-Pro OL (Scherff and their C, whose name sounds French) while we have had literal ghosts more pussy than Casper protecting Darnold's blind side. In the wins, Darnold has been what we expected him to be before the season - money. I call this a big plus on the season.
2. The losses this season have been complete no-shows.
It's one thing to lose a lot of close games, but it's another thing for all of the losses (except Week 1: Mono) to be more embarrassing than sharting as you say "I Do" at your own wedding. But that has been the reality of this team. The wins have been good: close upset victory against the Cowboys, taking care of business against "worse" teams; but the losses have been catastrophic shit shows. Having backup QBs isn't an excuse considering the success backup QBs have had this season. It's one thing to lose with them, but it's another thing to look like a CFL team at best with them. This is Dolphins-like territory, where they were good in close games but really shit the bed otherwise. This is a big stink on the season.
3. 30% of Darnold's games he has looked like shit in.
Dolphins, Jags, and obviously the Pats game have not been good but I'm not even including the Jags game here, as the shit was really magnified by a single throw that never should have happened. Can a good QB afford to be bad for 30% of a season? By my math, that would render a team either 12-4 or 11-5 depending on how good the rest of the team played considering teams normally go how the QB goes. This is a big Push on the season, and Douche needs to make sure Darnold does not have any more than 1 shit game this season to justify his status as a "QB Whisperer". If Darnold ends strong again this year, another plus for Douche. If he ends on a decline, then we know he will be a lame duck next season.
14 players hurt enough not to play, the "QB of the Defense" out for basically the whole season, upset players in the locker room... so many factors that could go either way for any coach. While I believe it may be unfair to criticize Douche for much this season, one has to wonder if a good coach would make it such a big question mark to begin with. That said, I'm curious to see what this team will operate like with a QB in his second season in a playbook (for the first time of his career), a couple of quality OL, and a healthy CJ Mosley.
