Not so sure about this one. If the Jets ante up serious cash for a LT to protect Darnold, he needs to be the real deal not some shammer, which unfortunately the Jets have had their share of lately.

If the Jets are going to spend money spend it on Jack Conklin, a right tackle, age 26 and get a new left tackle in the draft. Pick up one of the top 3 centers too, add a wide receiver and if an edge is available after that go for it, or continue to build the offensive line. This isn't going to be a flashy draft for the jets but a necessary step in building the foundation for the next several years.

Isn't Trent 30? This could get stupid quickly Yeah I'd rather they stop signing guys at the ends of their careers to huge contracts.

Isn't Trent 30? This could get stupid quickly OL have a long history of playing at a high level well into their 30’s. Guys like Jason Peters and Andrew Whitworth are closing in on 40 and are still well above average starting LT’s. A trade for Williams wouldn’t be my top choice, I’d still prefer throwing the bank at Conklin and drafting an OT at #11. But there’s no guarantee that guys like Conklin or Thuney sign with us. And relying solely on the draft to improve the OL would be a disaster in the making. Makes sense for Douglas to at least kick the tires. Prior to sitting out last year, Williams was graded as the best pass blocking LT in the league in 2018.

He hates the organization.

Because he doesn’t want to be there He had a lump on his head, the Redskins doctors told him everything was fine, and then it turned out to be a cancerous growth that he had to have removed. So he sat out all of last year and told Washington to go fuck themselves.

Plus he wants 20 million dollars. Why wouldn’t he? 7x pro-bowler and was arguably the best LT in football prior to sitting out last season. We’re going to have to pay out the ass to bring in any OL of quality, and I’m fine with that. The alternative is signing a couple of scrubs and having as many as 3 or 4 rookies starting on the OL. That has disaster written all over it.
