There was a thread on Jets Nation asking this question so I thought I’d start one here. I completely disagree with this premise and do not think he should be on the hot seat. In fact, given the new coach and new QB, he’s nearly starting over and still has had only 2 drafts, which both still show promise..
I’m addition, no matter what others say, he’s a billion times better than Idzik and especially MacFucko. At least he drafts positions we actually need instead of over hyped (safe) shitty non-playmaking DLs in the first RD every year after year.
Bottom line is the team hasn’t played well the first 2 games and most of the players are JD’s draft picks and FA signings, but the team and the games feel different than the boring unwatchable untalented uninspired crapola of the MacFucko Gase Idzik Bowles years.
As you all know, I’m not the most optimistic guy when it comes to the Jets 😂 (is the mayor of Nome on this site? Perhaps he’s one of shakin’s personalities.. I’ll give him an ice fishing hut to take the team), but in no way am I ready to give up on JD, or a lot of the picks he’s made that I like - Becthon, Mims, Zach, AVT, Moore - or solid FA signings - Corey Davis, Moses. Even the guys he let go I’m fine with - Jamal, skinny punk Robby.
Not sure if I’m just happy MacFucko and Gase are gone or not, but I actually don’t hate these losers that much. Time will tell, but starting over again, after we just started over with JD and Saleh (who I really like and think he can be a good HC) just seems idiotic.
Not sure if any of you saw the thread on JN, but I would be interested in your thoughts on this important matter. 😎

I dont think there is any chance of him getting fired this year. Nor should there be. This is year 1 with a new QB and HC. And he got to pick both of them.
But from a fan perspective the honeymoon is over. He has had 2 FA classes and drafts. And has had a very easy job from a salary cap perspective.

And they seem to really love Robby Anderson on JN. That fucking little skinny cunt was nothing special and I’m glad he’s gone. But a lot of the Joe Douglas hate on that site seems to be because he didn’t pay the little shitty skinny punk ass bitch.

And his GM career will be completely tied to whether Zach Wilson is the real deal or a bust. But, from one standpoint I feel like he’s actually a knowledgeable GM in many respects like if you, me, trades or other hampurites/ Jets fans were the GM - these were the guys we would pick in the draft and sign as FAs. Whereas under MacFucko, Idzik and other regimes it was like FF2 (or a Manchurian candidate type rival was purposely picking shitty jets drafts picks so they continued to suck). They were that bad.

I like that he has invested in the OL with 1st rounders bc I feel developing OL is very hard in this era. We are already seeing the benefits of signing Moses. The Shaq Lawson trade looks terrific. But he needs to figure our this Mims situation. He cant be inactive. Not in a year where we are evaluating. And they need to get the Becton situation figured out. If LaFleur cant get those two guys to fit then LaFleur needs to go IMO. I think Wilson will be fine. Keep investing in his protection and weapons. I think Saleh has the right personality and character traits to make a good head coach.

You think about how Pat Riley changed from coaching showtime in LA to brawl ball with the Ewing, mason, starks, Oakley Knicks because that’s what he had. Or Shula going from defense and boring ass offense with the 70s Dolphins to air Marino with the 80s fish cause he knew the players he had. The Jets need the coaches to win with the talent they have - and they do have talent. Mims, Becthon, etc are exciting players so put them in a position to win and I don’t want to hear about the coaches fucking “system”.

I think JD & Saleh are the right guys.
That doesn’t mean I’ll like everything they do. I thought no veteran QB was a mistake. Think so even more now.
But I still think we have the right guys.
And I think Zach will be fine but it’ll take time.

I agree the honeymoon is over but shouldn't be on the hot seat IMO. There were holes all over the roster which he addressed. He took a risk going super young at CB which I was wary of and over 2 games looks not bad at all.
I think the barometer will be the OL. If it sucks like last year, then it will make the Wilson pick look bad because he'll struggle and possibily get injured. In which case that's on JD. I'm not really worried about the defense. With Saleh's background they will play for him and be competitive.

And I think Zach will be fine but it’ll take time. I think the decision to throw Zack out there was made based on the kid's personality. Saleh probably sees him as someone who would learn better doing rather than watching. We have to remember we have a VERY young team. Average age is supposedly 25.1 which is the lowest in the league. www.phillyvoice.com/ranking-nfl-teams-age-after-53-man-cutdowns-jets-bears-texans-eagles-2021-edition/ We have a rookie HC leading a rookie OC leading a rookie QB with the youngest team in the league. That doesn't excuse Wilson's bad throws but it kind of explains them. I am willing to give them a growth year but I hope to see improvement by the end of the season.

I think this is where it will get tricky. Guys like him are used to winning since high school. Top prospect, on teams that win...the kid is in uncharted territory for him coming off a 4 INT game that cost us the game and in a 0-2 hole. He threw what? 3 INT last year..welcome to the NFL. How he handles this adversity will be really interesting.

One day they'll trade your favorite receiver, your OC gets a HC opportunity..etc. This is all speculation, but he seems to be the kind of guy who doesn't get flustered. Fingers crossed.

I completely agree his fate is tied to the success or lack thereof of Zach Wilson. Wilson gets as much time as Darnold and if he continues to underperform will be shown the door, with JD and Salah soon to follow.
