Just when you think our QB position can't get any sadder, this game means nothing and G-Nope hands the ball pretty much the entire game. Prepare to be ridiculed by the media again for this.m What a waste. Game means nothing and our Jets do little to evaluate G-Nope Smith. Why not play Matt Simms if this is the case. At the least, just to see if he has anything? At this point I am not surprised anymore at any shortcomings of this team.....

I said it in the game thread but I feel confident saying Idzik made the call to put in geno and Rex tried to minimize the humiliation.

It really is just odd.
But I guess that's what happens when your coach and GM have different motives.
Rex is auditioning.
Idzik is evaluating for the future.

Seems like a big FU from Rex to idzik I swear to god that I was thinking the same thing during the game. I could just see Rex thinking, "Ok John, you want me to start Geno? No problem." This was a perfect game to let Geno try to air it out.

This is absolutely true. Decker was one on one with a nobody the entire game and the Jets refused to call a single play on the outside to him. On both plays where Decker was targeted, he was coming in on slants.
Rex needs to be fired right now.

Rex is sticking it to Idzick, like he feels Idzick did to him in not acquiring any players with all that cap space.
Fire em both.

I've seen enough to know that geno is the worst QB in the NFL, by a substantial margin

This was a perfect game to let G-Nope try to air it out. Perfect game? Miami has a top 5 pass D and pressures the QB. Mix in some geno and that is a recipe for disaster. And what was it about the 6 for 13 performance that tells you geno could pass with success against the Miami D?

And what was it about the 6 for 13 performance that tells you G-Nope could pass with success against the Miami D? It was the perfect game because the season is lost already. Even if he threw 6 interceptions, the result would have been the same as it was: a loss. Instead, now we have people correctly questioning what was the point of putting Geno in to evaluate him if you are not going to let him throw the ball. I have no idea if Geno would have had success throwing yesterday (I don't think he would have), but it is hard to get a read on a QB when you let him throw 13 times the entire game. My pop warner team used to throw more than that.

Maybe they got all the read on G-Nope that they need. Maybe you've missed his last oh i dunno, 100 or so passes.

Regardless of what the Dolphins defense is statistically, they never even looked Decker's way despite having one on one coverage with a brand new corner on him. They never utilized play action at all.
Look back at everyone of Geno's drop backs, how many were obvious passing downs? And we all wonder why he wasn't successful. This is how Rex ruined Sanchez too.
Anyone that is happy about how Rex called that game last night, doesn't realize that Rex is hindering the offensive development. The sooner he is gone, the better. And by the season' send, he will have all the media's sympathy while shifting all the blame on Woody and Idzick.
I have to think that all the other GMs can see right through this and it's going to prevent Rex from ever getting another HC job.
