It sucks for the first round, but we still have pretty high picks throughout the draft. It'll be nice pucking high in rounds 2-4 for instance. Also presents a lot of trade down opportunities. Assuming we have a pick in Round 4 of course.

Do we root for Jacksonville or the Titans this week? Titans ... Jacksonville has a qb, so will either draft a non qb or will trade out

Wait 'til they beat teh Pats. Deep down you are very worried about this. Of course, this is Rex's last stand and the Jets always give the Pats a good game. Rex might cough up blood right on the sideline.

Do we root for Jacksonville or the Titans this week? Titans ... Jacksonville has a qb, so will either draft a non qb or will trade out Even if the Titans win and Jets lose they will still stay ahead of the Jets in the draft order based on strength of schedule. As as long as the Jets lose one of their remaing 2 games, they can not go lower than 6 in the draft.

So if they win, and we lose out, we have a chance of passing them and drafting at 5. Actually, according to an nfl page I saw, we already have a better (worse?) SOS: 3. Jacksonville Jaguars 2014 record: 2-12 (.538) 6. New York Jets 2014 record: 3-11 (.536) So I'd say definite root for Jacksonville...

The issue was the Jets getting ahead of the Titans because they are likely to draft a QB.

We did get Gholsten in a similar fashion...... Excuse me while I puke. ...and missed out on Matt Ryan by winning the last (hopelessly meaningless) game in OT. I think I'll join you with a little projectile of my own. My god, imagine if we had Matt Ryan instead of Gholston.

Let's be honest. We were never going to get the best offensive player in this draft because we weren't ever going to be in a position better than Oakland, Tennessee, or Tampa Bay. All of them will select offensive players, possibly QBs and the highest rated WR. Remember Gholston. That's what we're going to be left with. Another boom/bust defensive havoc player. We fucked the pooch fellas.

My point is, if you are a fan who want the Jets to succeed in trading up for Mariota, you need a 2 win team that already has a quarterback as a trade partner. Those candidates are Jacksonville and the Raiders. If the Titans or Bucs are picking first, unless we find out that Mariota is a sheep shagger in the next 5 months, Mariota is likely going off the board first.

Chances are they will trade out of first to the Titans, The Bucs the Jets .. or someone else. Even if the Titans/Bucs are picking second they would be interested in trading up one to prevent someone else trading up in front of them to take Mariota.
