"To reset and re-adjust is a tough thing to do, but we're professionals and we have to do it," Smith continued. "A change could be good for us all, so if it happens -- when it happens -- then we'll see."

Well, at least he seems to have hit his target.
Could an offensive guru save Geno? Long odds, but you never know.

I can't see anybody of merit wanting to come here if the requirement is that Geno remains the starter. I could see the response to that in an interview as, "How did being handcuffed with some guy from the last regime work for you?"

Quite honestly, if Idzik is gone then the only way to make coming to the Jets a very compelling thing is to give the new GM a completely clean slate.....Hire your own HC, get your own QB, start from the bottom up with a roster that is probably about 60% of NFL quality.

Also, let's be real here about Geno. We're talking about a guy who couldn't adjust a clock for the time zone and was in a movie theater when the Jets were in a team meeting. Not sure how highly I'd value his assessment of the changes that are needed with the Jets.....because he may be one of those things that needs to be changed.

If Geno is still on the team, there is no way he will be the unquestioned starter. At the very least, he will have to battle it out in camp with at least one (hopefully two) challenger(s) for the starting job.

Both him and his dick look like scared turtles. You have to have some pizzazz if you're going to be the QB of the New York Jets.

Saw that, Geno has the emotional intelligence of a stone. STFU until the new staff is in place G Nope.

If Geno had improved only slightly Rex would not be under the gun right now. This team's failures are a direct result of awful QB play, that unfortunately has gone on for 4 years running.
Yes Gedope change would be good... at your spot.

Saw that, Geno has the emotional intelligence of a stone. STFU until the new staff is in place G Nope. He really needs a mentor and obviously Vick hasn't provided this. Geno is as dumb as a box of rocks and was ill-prepared for NY media. This is almost as bad as his HOF talk a few weeks ago.
But yeah, he obviously threw everyone under the bus and probably had no idea he did this. He needs to think before he speaks, like CJ. Maybe CJ is the bad influence for him.

How is that throwing anyone under the bus? He's simply responding to a question and stating it's out of the players hands, if it happens they are man enough to take it on the chin.
I've soured on Geno and know he's not the answer, but how can you blame him for wanting to work with a better offensive HC in a different system? His career is on life support under Rex at 24.

Maybe you're missing the entire context - he also said a change would be good. His coaches and GM are currently employed and he's flippantly stating that he's okay with their leaving (being fired). Sorry, but PC aside, that's extremely insensitive and being downright stupid. And you're right, Geno being the answer or not is not relevant. Why would it be? But he is the leader of the team de facto as the starting QB. That's absolutely reckless commentary from someone of his stature of the team. He either needs counseling or to shut it up. A new regime will be cognizant of these comments, for sure. I'm not okay with this as a fan and I would bet heavily it's not okay with the Jets organization.

All fair points, but I hate PC sensitive people. I won't shed a tear when all of them are shown the door. They all know change is coming, Geno is just not clever enough to hide his feelings.

Change he says, ya, him hitting the road or being 3rd string and the team not having to put up with him, that's the change.
I don't see any new HC coming in here and keeping Geno. Every candidate knows the history, not only with Geno, but the whole team and organization, they will all want to rid themselves of anything that is negative. If a HC comes in here and keeps any of the huge elephants in the room it tells me they have no confidence in themselves and are simply keeping them around so they can drop blame when the hammer falls.
