Fire idzik let the next gm decide Rex's fate. Personally I'd keep him.

Last four years, with different QB's, offensive and defensive coordinators, and General Managers:
8-8 6-10 8-8 4-12
And in a league that is offensive-driven, towards last in yards and points, every year. Fire Rex Ryan, fire him tonight.

Actually, I think Rex did an admirable job to keep the Jets competitive this year( save for the Bills + Chargers game) given the hand he was dealt with no QB, aging offensive line and a practice squad for a secondary.

Any other coach could've gotten this team to 4-12. The roster was terrible, but think about 4-12, last place, who couldn't have gotten a team to 4-12?

The Jags, Bucs, Titans coaches, and Sparano?

The Jags, Bucs, Titans coaches, and Sparano? I think any of those coaches could've gotten this Jets team at or near 4-12. But, none of them are in year 6 with their teams. Those coaches are implementing new systems. Rex is going straight down. I'm not even saying he's the worst coach in the NFL, just that we can find a better one. Preferably one who is offensive-minded.

I would like to keep Rex. His players play hard for him and it isn't his fault his GM decided to give him a shitty QB and no cornerbacks. When we had a dominant O line and talent on offense he went to the AFC championship. Then Tannenbaum put him in cap hell and the talent on offense slowly deteriorated until you were left with Greg Salas as our best player. Add in a few draft busts like Stephen Hill and you have the Jets. Again none of that is his fault. He needs help, he knows he is offense limited but lets face it he never had QBs he could trust.

I think given the draft spot we are at and the amount on cap money we have that with the RIGHT personel guy (GM/Scouts/etc) Rex could take us deep into the playoffs next year.

I honestly think the Jets are finally doing the right thing for once.
Idzik was a bum. A complete disaster and he has to go.
The Jets should pick whoever they think is the best GM available. Let him make the call on Rex. Express no preference to him at all and tell him it's 100% his call. And if he doesn't want his first action to be canning Rex tell him that Woody will do it if he wants to start the job with his hands clean.
But give the new GM the choice...

I'd like for Rex to stay but it's far more important that the new GM have the opportunity to hire his own coach. So with that I say he should go. No half measures this time.

Anyone who wants to retain this turd should be kicked in the nuts or forced to watch a Rex Ryan coached offense. +1
Didn't know Rex knew what offense actually was.

Simple. Keep him. Look at his talent and nonsense pushed on him. 1. gets hired with a veteran, character heavy team to keep the rookie qb grounded= afc championship game 2. Most of team intact from 2009= afc championship game 3. Talent erodes- shonnn green and declining Tomlinson, Edwards. Holmes era. Online declines massively and Sanchez takes a beating. Nata ruins his career with the jets with a helmet to the chest. Defense is rebuilding 4. Tebow nonsense- oline is a tragedy. Nuff said. Talent continues to erode and Wrs are extinct. D rebuilding. 5. Official Rebuild year. rookie qb. New gm. 1 quality draft pick. Rest suck. 0 wrs. Cromarti hurt revis gone. 8-8 miracle 6. Total devoid of talent aside from d-line and mangold/brick. 12 draft picks and they all suck so far
rex may not be a gm, but can definitely coach talented players. The stats tell the story. Keep him out of All personnel decisions and give him players. He's no mastermind but good players will win a lot of games for him.
What's the alternative? Kotite, coslet, Edwards. Unless u get a parcells or other proven winner, the guy proved he can win if he has stability and talent. Hasn't had that in 4 yrs.
