So with Jace Amaro and ASJ, the Jets end up employing two guys from that vaunted TE Draft Class? Was it that vaunted? I'm not so sure. There were a couple names, but I would just say it better than average. Average hasn't been great lately. If there's a downside here, (assuming ASJ isn't a total POS) its that we probably just took ourselves out of the running for one of the top TEs in 2017... and that class is vaunted for sure. There's 3-4 tier 1 guys and a couple others whom are no slouches as well. Sprinkle, Howard, Hodges, Butt, Ingram -- all major talents.

We have about $2MM in cap space. ASJ has base salary of $800K for the year, so about $700k remaining, so $$$ should not be a major issue. We will also free up some space with whomever we release to make room. And people gave Tanny shit about having us in cap hell. I wonder why Mac always gets a pass in this department, we also have a 5 mil cap hit for Fitz next year. I can't argue with that. We went from one of the best cap situations in the league to one of the worst in one season. And how much of that cap space was used on the secondary which has gotten torched for 3 weeks in a row. In fairness to Macc, the cupboard was bare after 3 pretty bad drafts from 2012 - 14 which is what should be the young, inexpensive core that you build around. Enunwa, Richardson, Pryor and Winters. Those are the only regular contributors out of 27 players drafted in those 3 years.

who knows how this is going to turn out. imo these mid season moves usually don't work out but there are exceptions. here's to hoping they got another nice target for fitz who can get those 5-7 yard passes. It's mid season already? Damn this year flew by... I remember the Jets trading for a guy in 09 "midseason" that worked out ok.

Agreed, it wasn't vaunted at all. I felt like every TE taken in that draft was taken half a round too early.

Nobody wants to defend against the two TE set of Butt Sprinkle.

Per Twitter verse, Bucs have just waived TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins - after a DUI last night. God dammit, if i can just get this one, just this one break.... fuck that mean a lot me. I know we'd have some work to do, but Marshall and (hopefully) Sheldon can bring this guy under their wing and talk about overcoming some of those behavioral issues. It may not mean much in the 2016 season, but if he can be salvaged, he's got graham upside. I saw we picked him up and immediately thought "For once, Paradis gets his man..."

What is the situation in relation to a possible suspension for the DUI? While I have concerns about ASJ's mental make-up and work ethic, there is no denying his ability. Hopefully, the fact that the Bucs simply cut him rather than try to fix him will be an epiphany for him. If the kid grows up and decides he wants to be a football player, the Jets got a steal, and I am looking forward to the day the Jets line up 3 wides, single back with Marshall, Decker, Quincy, Forte, and ASJ. If we only had a QB to throw the ball to one of them.... maybe Jay Cutler will be released...

The league will probably wait for the legal case to work itself out before handing out a suspension, right? If so, the case will probably draft out into the offseason. He may not even be on the team next year.
