MSG Networks announced Thursday that Brendan Burke will succeed Howie Rose as the Islanders’ primary television play-by-play man, working alongside analyst Butch Goring.
Burke, 32, most recently was the play-by-play man for the Utica Comets of the American Hockey League.
“It is an incredible honor to be joining MSG Networks and becoming part of the Islanders family,” Burke said in a news release. “It’s very humbling to think I am following in the footsteps of two of the all-time greats in Howie Rose and Jiggs McDonald. It has been a lifelong goal to be an NHL broadcaster and to come home to New York City, and to work for one of the NHL’s iconic franchises, is an absolute dream come true.”
When's the reg season start? Schedule on NHL.com is impossible to tell. Actually their new website format blows.
Next Thursday. 10/13 at the Garden against the Rangers.
I wont have internet from next tuesday until friday so I'm going too miss the opener but on the bright side I should be able able to get the package again this year. On the dark side they are televising the Jets game yet again here in NM, so I'll have to watch it.
