I wouldn't take Kaepernick. There were a few years there where running QBs were all the rage but as each team has had multiple exposures to those offenses they have all designed defensive schemes to neutralize them. Kaepernick too often makes one read and then runs. He needs to develop more as a passer and look at how Steve Young developed. I wouldn't want to hang this team's offense on the hope that we can develop his passing game at the same time we have so many other plates to keep spinning in the air this offseason. Plus, I doubt the 49ers dump the guy this quickly. He might be out in a year or two if he doesn't learn to make a few more reads. Kaep has a cannon and can run as well as anyone. The guy has every physical tool you can ask for. If he could ever learn the mental part of the game he'd be a perennial Pro Bowler. However, I'm somewhat bearish on his long term prospects. Harbaugh, a bonafide QB guru, couldn't get Kaep past his first read, who else could do it at this stage in his career? Football IQ is mostly inherited. It's the reason why losers like Geno Smith and Mark Sanchez will stay losers in this league. If you haven't learned to go through progressions by your second or third year, you're not going to have a long career in the NFL.

Wish there was a way to trade for a starter. I'd trade a 2nd and conditional early 2016 pick.
Who out there worth trading for and is worth it? Cam Newton maybe?

Whatever the case may be, Geno will be on the roster in 2015. The next HC/GM that comes in will provide him with legit competition with a FA and possible rookie in the draft. Lets face it Geno was put in a bad spot back in 2013...no one to throw to, a suspect offensive line, a and a coach that believes in a prehistoric offensive game plan. We saw what he can do when the offense is opened up so at the very least the new HC should take a look and see how he performs with a new offense. You left out "we saw what he can do when" playing against a team that already quit. The dolphins had no fight in them and got NO pressure on Geno all game. The real Geno lies somewhere between the horrible debacle we saw in the first Buffalo game 2/8 for 5 yards and 3 ints and yesterdays game. That is a huge chasm so we really have no idea who Geno is after 2 years of being a staring QB. This is so far out and wrong that it deserves a laugh but not much of a response other than to say the Blowfish were determined to finish strong. They did not hand anything to the Jets.

You think it is unfair to say that judging Geno by his one good game is wrong and that his talent lies between his best and worst games of the season? That we will still have to wait to see who he truly is because this one good game makes you at least wonder about all the bad ones? You think that by some miracle the Jets had open receivers and Geno was seeing AND hitting them or is it more likely that the Dolphins weren't playing their best game? As for the Dolphins quitting... here is what Mike Wallace said and there are other articles questioning the team's preparation and performance which resulted in losing the last 4 games straight.
