As others have said, he's a highly regarded offensive guy who tore Rex's vaunted defense to shreds mutiple times over the last two years with EJ Manuel and Kyle Orton at QB.Marrone is just the type of guy to get the most out of a journeyman or even a kid like Geno. And let's face it, that's what we're looking at for the foreseeable future at QB. He's also always been a highly regarded OL coach. Another one rewriting history. His highly regarded offense capitalized on so many Jets turnpvers by the offense. But let's keep promoting that myth. Meanwhile, this offensive genius did not develop a QB -- isn't that one of the main criticisms you have regarding Rex? Or, are we applying a double-standard. As for Buffalo's first winning season, I hate to throw cold water on NYE (it is surprisingly chilly out here in LA), the team was lead by their defense. That offense scared nobody. Marrone hasn't made a playoff game nor a serious playoff run. But yes, let's hand him the keys to the organization.

Me personally, I would hire Hue Jackson, Todd Bowles(yes, a DC), and even Adam Gase before I would hire Marrone. Only thing I will admit that Marrone has over those guys is the fact that he knows our division very well. Which is huge, that I also will admit. I think you have a local guy who got the Bills a winning season for the 1st time in a decade.
Won with Kyle fuckin Orton. Is from the side of the ball we want. Maintained a good Defense on his watch. wiped the floor with AFC opponents and totally out coached Rex. I like this hire for the Jets Carlito, makes a lot of sense. I'll be open-minded Har(as if I have a choice LOL) but he's just not on my short list. Maybe I need to look into him more. Tearing US of all teams to shreds this season isn't telling me TOO much I'm sorry.....

The ownership is up in the air and there is talk of moving the team. His value is decent right now (in his favor) because he put a good product on the field and just beat NE. This is the best time for him to make a move. Actually the ownership is not up in the air and they are not moving. The Pegulas bought the team this year and they are from Buffalo and also own the Buffalo Sabres hockey team. They have already announced that they are not moving and are looking into building a new stadium. Madrone was looking for an extension and they wouldn't give him one.

He won with Kyle Orton at QB because of the D not because he's some QB savant.

I like this hire for the Jets Carlito, makes a lot of sense. He split with Miami and The Patriots (in their win versus The Patriots playing Jimmy Garrapolo for half a game). He beat the Jets twice, he lived at one point in the Bronx (why is that important?). He pushed for drafting EJ Manuel ... He inherited the best D line in football, I'm sorry this is no upgrade, it's more mediocrity.

I'm gonna have to agree with the Chowd on this one.... Me too . I've followed Maroon here in Buffalo and he is NOT what we want.....he is way more conservative than any coach we've had since Walt Michaels.... I'd rather see what other options the Jets organization has at this point.....EJ Manuel was handcuffed and Never threw down field...I agree that he has attracted quality DCs but our offense would resemble Chad dinking and dunking and the fan base is thru with that...as am I.....

The Jets should at least interview him.

Kyle Orton in two games against the Jets this year: 34/49, 468 yards, 6 TD's, 0 INT's So yes, the mighty Rex Ryan who regularly confuses QB's like Tom SparklePony and Peyton Forehead was somehow totally upended repeatedly by Kyle Orton and Doug Marrone's offensive gameplan. It wasn't the great mumbling prick up in New England with the Golden Boy at QB or the great Bill Lazor down in Miami who tons of people on this board want as the next HC. Nope It was Doug Marrone with a stable of shitty QB's and average at best talent on offense and having to play one of those games on a neutral field while being trapped in a blizzard just 2 days prior.

For Gods sake the Bills haven't had a winning record since going 9-7 in 2004....odds are they were going to go 9-7 again sometime with a chimp calling random plays....thumbs down on Maroon

What's your point? You could certainly do a lot worse than a detail oriented, offensive guy like Marrone paired with a GM like Kirchner or Maccagnan with a strong scouting/personnel background.
