He declined to interview last time and got the promotion from the Ravens that made him basically officially the heir apparent, but this time if he agrees to meet you can't let him leave the room. profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/12/30/jets-want-to-interview-eric-decosta-for-g-m-opening/Jets want to interview Eric DeCosta for G.M. opening Posted by Josh Alper on December 30, 2014, 11:29 AM EST John Harbaugh News Conference Getty Images When the Jets were looking for a general manager two years ago, they asked the Ravens for permission to interview executive Eric DeCosta. DeCosta declined the opportunity to interview for the job, taking a promotion to assistant general manager under Ozzie Newsome in Baltimore instead. That turn of events isn’t stopping the Jets from barking up the same tree now that they are back in the market for a G.M. after firing John Idzik. Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that the Jets have submitted another request to interview DeCosta. There’s no word on whether DeCosta will take the interview this time, but it wouldn’t be surprising if he again turned down the Jets’ overture. DeCosta has been with the Ravens organization since the team came into existence and is seen as the next general manager in Baltimore whenever Newsome decides to end his long run as the man with his hand on the steering wheel.

#Jets are expected to make a significant push for #Ravens assistant GM Eric DeCosta, per source. Many have tried for the respected executive

Hopefully he's had enough of waiting around for Ozzie to step down.
And I agree, DeCosta has been one of the most highly sought after GM candidates for the past decade. If he accepts the interview, then you throw the fucking bank at him and guarantee that he gets a minimum of 4-5 years on the job.

Yeah, I expected this. We don't know that he's going to stay there for ever waiting for Ozzie. And if he's waiting for a good opportunity, here's one where he can select his coach and start anew with 50+M in cap space and high draft picks.

Something tells me he'll decline the interview by the end of the day.

Too good to be true. He'd bring a real football program here. He will decline it's only natural.

Aren't we due some good luck? God can't hold a grudge this long can he?

Aren't we due some good luck? God can't hold a grudge this long can he? We cashed all that in Rex's first 2 years. 40 years worth of accrued luck, down the toilet.

I agree he will probably decline, but he'd be a home run. Walk Off Grand Slam actually.
Even if he says no, at least they weren't afraid to ask.

God probably figured... eh they'd rather have 2 fun years than 1 with a superbowl. Do we still have Jenn Sterger to throw in the deal as a sweetener?

Another link www.ganggreennation.com/2014/12/30/7468217/new-york-jets-to-make-serious-push-for-eric-decostaEric DeCosta is the general manager in waiting for the Baltimore Ravens, and for years has been in line to succeed Ozzie Newsome. Every year, he is arguably the most coveted candidate, and every year, he rejects every team's overtures. Two years ago, he wouldn't even interview with the New York Jets. However, that hasn't stopped the team. I'm not going to get my hopes up, but this is a swing for the fences. If Woody Johnson is willing to open up the purse strings and hand over full control to DeCosta, it's possible, but still unlikely. This would certainly be a move that would lend significant credibility to the team, and would be almost impossible for the media to criticize. Don't get your hopes up, but this would be awesome.

If DeCosta agrees to interview with us, you hold him hostage at Florham Park until he signs on the dotted line.
I'm talking completely lock Florham Park down and hold him there until figures out he has no choice but to take the job.
