Amaro flashed. i never quite saw it in Pryor. one or two nice plays early on in the season and then disappeared. looking forward to seeing a true competition enforced by the new coach.

Hopefully the GM will get us a cover safety and a #1 CB then we can play Pryor at SS, his proper position. That's where he will make the most impact. The Jets were forced to have him deep this year to help in coverage b/c our CB's sucked. That is not Pryor's strength and we all knew that going in to the year. He's more of a Bob Sanders type player, we need to utilize him that way and he will be a very good SS.

It could be argued that 50% of coaching is just putting players in roles and tactical situations that they are suited to succeed in.

Pryor and Amaro both look like long term starters. Pryor was up and down this year but I think his best football is in front of him. He played a lot for a rookie in a secondary that needed help on the outside.
Amaro was similar, a little up and down, but again, I think he gets better in his second year. Both look like keepers.
Need to get something else out of this class though. We need a surprise from either McDougal or Evans...one of them has to come out of nowhere and earn playing time next year. If both became backups, like CB3 or CB4 and a 4th WR then I'd be optimistic that the 2014 draft could be at least minimally salvaged.

I'm not so worried about him. I think Evans is a tax writeoff. He looked lost in camp before he got hurt. But let's not forget Dozier, whom I think can compete for a rotational spot next year and a starting spot in 2 years, and IK "(sp)" Enkmpali who has a knack for making plays. I could see him as a rotational player going forward, great production from a 6th rounder. Aside from wasted picks like Saunders, Dixon, Boyd, this draft is still a big TBD.

Damn, their year must have been worse than I though to make Kiper's 'best' list

Pryor needs to be able to take big risks at the line of scrimmage in order to make a couple splash plays each game, which will make up for his missed tackles.
Rex, whether it was out of stubborness or necessity, used him in the worst way possible in coverage. Pryor needs to be playing near the line where he can play the run and attack the LOS every once in a while.
Hopefully he puts in the work in coverages and route recognition to keep developing as a player, but I think the right defensive coach (Dan Quinn especially) would get the most out of him.

Don't forget that Evans couldn't join the team until later because the UCLA semester ended late. He missed rookie minicamp and I believe some training camp before getting hurt. There's some hope here. I agree on Dozier. Hopefully he can become a pleasant surprise starter.

The few times I saw him play for UCLA he was a difference maker...

Pryor? LMAO. Less than average to poor seaon, misses multiple meetings, gets benched for an undrafted rookie and makes all rookie team? Not impressed

Not impressed Amaro was the best of the worst in what was considered an average TE class. I didn't think any of them were worthy of a first round selection. Pryor is a joke making this team. He was terrible this season in every aspect of the game and Dix and Bucannon were at least worthy of consideration. The safety group was another position that I didn't see a true first rounder.
