I don't get this. Why is Woody Johnson interviewing Hc's? He should hire a top GM first and let him pick the HC. Is that not how things here got FUBAR with the last regime? I love what Woody has done so far by cleaning house, but the owner interviewing HC's before hiring a GM makes no sense and is going right down the wrong road once again IMO. You cannot hire a HC and have the HC pick his boss-the GM, it does not work that way. What are Casserley and Wolf telling Woody? Are they going to be CO Gm's perhaps? If not I do not understand the logic to getting a HC first before the GM.
Somebody help me understand this logic por favor?

I think I have Big L to thank for that pic. It might have been Ragu though.

Excellent question. I hadn't really thought about it.
Really going out on a limb: Maybe when the Woodster interviews the GMs, he'll ask what HC they want. And if Woody has already interviewed that HC, he can ask probing, intelligent questions of the GM....
But then again Woody is on record as saying he will pick the HC.
So to bxjetfan's point: "BECAUSE WOODY IS A FUCKING MORON!!!!"

49rs owner is interviewing HCs. Mr. Blank will be in Atlanta as well. I can not remember the last time an owner was not involved in a HC interview process.

People are reading too much into this. Woody knows he can't fuck this one up, which is why he's enlisted the help of Casserly & Wolf. Let's not overreact until they actually hire someone first.

I can not remember the last time an owner was not involved in a HC interview process. +1 The guy is the billionaire who owns the team and is going to be dishing out money to the new GM and HC and he's also the guy that is currently paying Wolf and Casserly. Of course he's going to have a say in matters. Every owner does.

If he waits we could end up with Art Shell.

Ok he has a say in the Hc, granted, but the GM is, or, should be the one with the final say.

I'm holding off on my angry rant until after the hires are completed. I don't know... I'm optimistic that this will have a good result. Maybe that's me just being naive. Maybe 2015 will be different. Maybe all the booze finally catches up with Broadway Joe. Maybe I started drinking too early today. Maybe...

Overreaction.....
As some others here have said. The 3 guys in charge of the search here (Wolf, Casserly, Woody) need to get a head start on weeding some of these candidates out. A lot of them are on teams that are in the playoffs, and this is the last time we can talk to these guys until there respective playoff runs are done.
Also, it's being reported that GM candidates are being asked what HCs they would like to work with.
I think we should let this play out for now....

Ok he has a say in the Hc, granted, but the GM is, or, should be the one with the final say. I'm sure they're just trying to get a jump on the available candidates, maybe eliminating some. Woody will have to interview the HC even if he is not making the final decision, and that step will be out of the way so that they can move fast when the time comes. Obviously (I assume) the new GM would have final say.

For the "need to hire a GM first" crowd, the Seahawks hired Pete Carroll, then John Schneider. It has worked out.
