Watch a replay of Week 16 vs. Tom B and the Pats****. The Jets lost two games to the AFC's #1 seed by a combined 3 points, and I can't remember who we lined up at CB in those games. So where the hell was this when we were playing a team like the Bills headed by a coach that at least half of this board seems to object to? The Bills offense, headed by Marrone, not once but twice punked the hell out of Rex's defense this year. Not to mention our blowout loss against them last year and the narrow escape after the long bomb to Santonio Holmes. Yes, even with Cromartie and a healthy Dee Milliner, Rex's vaunted defense was still chewed apart by EJ Manuel and Co. (aka Doug Marrone). It was all about the Bills' d-line. Geno always shits the bed against a good one.

I get a kick out of those claiming Rex wouldn't be of any concern as DCoord for the Dolphins. Right.

I don't agree that Rex is still considered a great defensive mind. Dan Quinn and Bowles have both surpassed Rex in that regard. In 2009 and 2010 Rex earned that reputation because the Jets were loaded with high priced free agents of his choosing and Revis. No where close to that the last 2 years. that said, he will never be a a DC because he will essentially be neutered. Plus the $$ at ESPN will be too great. Watch a replay of Week 16 vs. Tom B and the Pats**. The Jets lost two games to the AFC's #1 seed by a combined 3 points, and I can't remember who we lined up at CB in those games. Yet we got jacked by Kyle Orton twice this year. Yeah Rex shows up against Bill Belidick and nobody else. Who cares. He was the root of the Jets roster woes due to terrible personnel decisions he had a huge say in prior to Idzik ever getting here. He's gone now, so who really gives a crap. We are going to be a much better team because of it.

He might not want to be a DC but that's his mindset. Think about it. His focus is solely on defense. That's what a DC does. If he's not interested in taking responsibility for the other aspects of the team, then being a head coach is nothing more than an ego thing. If you can't or won't step in when other areas of the team need help, then you're not a head coach. He might be a great DC and he might have success as a head coach if he gets a prepackaged offense but it's still a DC mindset.
