I don't know what to think anymore. Mariotta looks great but he is always throwing to wide open receivers. I can show you Sanchez USC highlight reel and it looks the same.

reminds a bit of last year's bridgewater fiasco. he was always the best qb in the draft. the over-analysis killed his stock, and now the vikes are grinning I like the idea of using a late round pick on the guy who consistently beat Bridgewater in High School and College... Rakeem Cato. It may have to be a mid round pick, since I do believe that once the scouts complete their QB evaluations, Cato will be rated higher than he is now. i like watching cato play though i haven't had enough opportunities. one thing i like about him a lot is that he's always looking down field. the bad thing about that is that it's usually only at his first read, and i seldom see him really step into his throws.

That's why he is a very worthwhile mid to late draft pick. All of the QB's in this draft have question marks. Cato is a fiery competitor with a good skill set and all of the intangibles. Football is not just important to him. It is everything to him. I'd like to see what he can become. Regardless of whether he would end up a Jet, he is a guy I will always root for.

I can show you Sanchez USC highlight reel and it looks the same. it's the scheme. it's why you can't trust his tape. it's why i wouldn't touch him as long as Winston is available. how often do we see Mariotta dissecting the field? when do we ever see him really throwing from the pocket? PFT put up an article today about how RG3 was sacked at a historical rate this season due to his inability to throw under pressure. how will Mariotta throw when he has NFL defensive linemen in his face, whom are twice as fast as the competition in college? he won't be able to just scramble out of it anymore. half of his legs game will disappear. the other half - the read option bullshit - will eventually be figured out, just like it is with every other QB of his style

The people whose livelihoods depend on evaluating and developing QBs can't even do it so why should I even try? I am just some fan that watches these guys play a dozen or so games a year. There are people that will dissect every throw a QB ever made in college and they still can't get it right. Sure seems like those people have worked for the Jets the past 40 years.

From a pro perspective Winston put out better tape last night. He has a cannon and made some big time throws. All of Mariotas throws are in between the hashes to wide open guys or behind the LOS

It felt like the entire FSU team started pressing when they went down by multiple scores. A lot of players made mistakes especially in the second half. I think Winston tried to go into hero mode and forced things that weren't there. I would chalk that performance up to coaching more than anything. And I'm not even a huge Winston fan.

I was convinced that Peter Tom Willis was the next Dan Marino.

Even without the off the field concerns I still never understood why so many are/were making him out to be an "elite" QB prospect.
Winston certainly has his positives but he presses WAY too damn much and has some sloppy mechanics in the pocket.
With Mariota out of the question and Cook most likely staying in school, I really don't give a shit about drafting a QB this year. Take Cooper if he's still there at #6. If Cooper and Gregory are off the board, then take Parker or Scherff depending on what we do in FA.
Use the rest of the draft to bolster the secondary, backfield and LB corps.
Just sign a vet QB like Matt Moore to compete with Geno. It sucks, but we were bound to head down that path as soon as we beat the Titans anyway.

Winston has a lot of red flags on he off the field to warrant a high first round selection, but the guy does have tremendous upside... I don't love the gimmick Ducks offense, but Mariota can diagnose plays and has incredible vision/anticipation... This is the one thing that separates good and bad QBs at the NFL level. This. If Winston falls to 6 you take him in a heartbeat. He really didn't play that poorly. If you watched the game, you know that. The fumble return was a freak play.

Jameis Cutler, i'm sorry Winston, looked every bit the kid I thought he was last night. IMO, there's zero chance he cleans up his decision making. He'll always be Jameis who giveth, and Jameis who taketh - we'll never be able to rely on him for consistent QB when it matters.
Mariota continues to look like "meh" to me. He'll be an RGIII knee injury away from being a limited talent

I still think it's hard to pass on Winston should he fall. He made plenty of NFL throws yesterday.
I don't really follow college - but who was that OU QB? Wow was that guy money - short passes with touch and accuracy and anticipation AND great downfield rainbows . . .

Don't know if this is BS or not - Fuck hope it's true just let it be please. We don't even need the temptation to be there with this crew of assholes we got "running" the draft
