of like when the Detroit Lions STARTED sucking so bad they went winless and 2-14 was an average year for them. That's what this steaming bag of shit looks like to me. Especially if we hire these dudes backwards.
And I'm not even one of those SOFS... Imagine what THEY think!

Unless you luck into a B.rady.
(yeah, eff the filters... funniest thing is that BB's name misses it a lot because half of the posters here can't spell his name correctly)

I'm starting to feel that way as well. I hope we get a good GM, because I'm not really wowed with any of the HC candidates we're linked to so far.
Give me another decade with the Jets and I'm sure I'll crossover into the SOJF abyss, never to return again...

Put it this way, I think we are closer to the bottom than we are to being a playoff team. But I also think we have been deteriorating for few years now.

I almost wouldn't mind stinking it up until we found a legit QB... I can't be the only one tired of the never ending cycle of being bad then climbing the mountain top of mediocrity only to fall back down again....... I can't stand the Colts and the Packers....2 generations of great/elite QB play and we're stuck with Clemens, Sanchez, Geno and Vick.

Or this is one of those situations where we have low expectations and get taken by surprise...

Or this is one of those situations where we have low expectations and get taken by surprise... Yeah, we've lucked out like that too many times. The pendulum has swung. Might as well just embrace it now and hope they arrest Belichoke for obstruction of a murder case and tampering with evidence and Brady gets fatal mouth herpes from all his whoring at the glory hole. We'd still need Putin to whack Kraft if all of those things happened. Possible but unlikely.

I agree somewhat - until we can get a solid player at the qb position (something we haven't had since the days of Namath IMHO) we're doomed to mediocrity.

Agree. I see people saying "we're not that far off" and I'm thinking huh??? We're fucked for many years to come.

With a roster full of suckitude, no QB, and injuries to both starting CBs that were needed to make Rex's defense really work I just can't see any other coach taking this past year's team to more than 5 or 6 wins.
Who in their right mind thinks that the 2014 Jets dramatically underachieved?? I think they pretty much met expectations, at least within a game or two. I haven't heard a single football expert say, "Wow, how did that team not win a lot more games and make a playoff push?"
Probably fair to assess the past 6 years under Rex as follows...
2009 - Major Overachievement 2010 - Overachievement 2011 - Underachievement 2012 - Underachievement 2013 - Overachievement 2014 - Met expectations
I think we had a roster with 6-win talent both last year and this year. Last year we won 8 games with a 6-win roster, this year we won 4 games with a 6-win roster. You could argue that last year a couple of bounces of the ball had the Jets at 6 or 7 wins instead of 8. You could also argue this year that if Folk hits a couple of FGs or the Jets finish the OT game in Minnesota that they win 6 or 7 this year.

I have a hard time seeing 2015 being a banner year for the team even if we pick a good GM/HC combo. We have such desperate needs at QB and secondary (with the o line not far behind) that it would take a lot to get all the pieces together in a single offseason and everything to gel before opening day. I do think we could be at least back in the middle of the pile by 2016 even with a game manager at QB.

I only wish he didn't repeat his same bonehead mistakes all the time... After 6 years you really kinda are like OKAY DUDE WTF!!! I think that's why he's ultimately gone, and what Woody was trying to talk about... who knows.
