imgur.com/gallery/P7cCWIf United was so fucking desperate to get its employees on that flight, they should have kept sweetening the pot until someone voluntarility decided to leave. Instead they drag off some doctor like a fucking criminal. The rights we waive just to travel is just fucking bs. Exactly. They probably only needed to come up a few hundred bucks... Now they will pay much more in $$ and damaged rep.

Doesn't it look like he smashed his own face on the armrest? This guy gets it. A little pain and suffering and "feared for my life". I bet he has lawyers beating his door down right now. Who can I sue? Who can you sue?

Funny story. I'd been a continental one pass member since 2002. I flew down to Miami in September 2012 to see the Jets (united had just bought continental) and on my way back I had all 3 seats at the back of the plane to myself. Of course after the doors close the flight attendant looks at the aisle number, then looks at me and I'm like really? You gonna make me move? She goes no! Here! Hands me a letter in an envelope. I open it and it says congrats for being a one pass member for 10 years. I shake it upside down and nothing else comes out. So I say that's it? She goes anything you want on this flight is on continental. 😂 I said put the avengers on my screen please and keep bringing me food and booze please. One of the greatest flights ever

I didn't read the story and I get that it sucks for a passenger to be removed because of over-bookings. But over-bookings aren't going to stop so they need to come up with a standard procedure for this like $1K & a free trip anywhere in the continental US.
Again, I didn't read the story but the guy was told to get off the plane and refused. At that point, air marshals should be brought on board and the passenger should be politely told that if he does not voluntarily remove himself from the plane, he will be arrested, removed from the plane and put on the "no fly" list for 5 years for the first offense.
Problem solved.

I'd have taken the action if she was anything short of having Hansen's Disease.

Problem solved. They werent air marshalls..but this is essentially what happened. And the guy said no. And the problem wasnt solved. What needed to happen here (monday morning QB'ing in full effect) was that an emotionally disturbed person protocol should have been declared, the plane evacuated and trained Emergency Service Cops brought on to subdue this imbecile without harm. But..time is money, the rest of the passengers, the same ones wringing their hands and filming, would have revolted if asked to deplane...its a mess. The cops had little recourse...the guy is an asshole..a perfect storm.

Fuck delaying everyone. If the air marshals asked him to leave and he refused, then he should have been forcefully removed. Plus I think a mandatory, 5 year no fly punishment for a first time offense for not obeying law enforcement would be a good deterent as well. And even if it wasn't, it would keep the doosh from doing it for at least 5 years.
Second offense, permanent no fly.
Fuck the fuckers.

It is against the law not to comply with any instructions given by the flight crew, which besides the pilots also includes air hostesses. So this guy was breaking the law.
However, not sure if the law applies only when in flight, or on the ground, too.

If it's a legit Dr. i.e.. surgeon, etc. not a chiro etc. put that one seat back into the lottery. Dr's, and Lawyers think they are owed the world, some are. Great scene, perfect role, good movie.

Having to remove a passenger from a flight is dumb. 20$ says the dude who took his seat pulled strings.
