Flacco has long out-performed his lifetime expectations when it comes to the playoffs. When the Ravens lose in Foxboro we can move back to the tired "it's all SparklePony" argument, or at least admit Revis made a difference. I think it could be reasonably argued that subtracting Revis from the Pats and putting him on the Jets may have swung either or both the 2 point loss to the Pats and the 1 point loss to the Pats into victories.

Torrey Smith racked up 229 yards through PIs. Only one other receiver had more than 100. But the refs are crooked toward the Pats**. Flacbert tossing up moon shots and hoping for PIs is basically their entire offense. You know the ass-whooping is coming........ I don't know if the Pats will lose the game, but they will lose the fight against the Ravens. Better them then the Steelers or Colts, 2 teams Brady always manages to make his bitch....

Flacco is so much better than he gets credit for. And how about Suggs turning back the clock. And just to think, less than 3 years ago half of JI honestly thought that Sanchez was better than Flacco and Ryan. Lolz Yeah, and now I wish we could find a Joe Flacco, let alone an elite QB

Looking at the Ravens, slight above average talent developed by a solid management team of GM, asst GM and coach. They passed over their DC in 2008 after a SB (REX) to bring in a DB special teams coach (Harbaugh) . Think about that. a special teams coach got the HC job over REX. Flacco IMO would never have become the QB he is today under REX and Ravens management knew it. Early on Flacco looked scared and played defensively. YET..they brought in the right talent around him. Point being ... the right GM and coaching with player development is so much more important than players. Arguably the Ravens talent is only slightly above average but are developed well above average. Who thought they would be here after Ray Rice??? The ability to hang on to Cotch and CRO I cite as examples makes good teams. Not easy, takes smoothing over feelings of players etc. The JETS need to bring in real football men with long term vision. I agree with most of this. Although I think Rex got a bit of a raw deal here there is no doubt that a strong Head Coach and GM team breeds longterm success. A great GM and bad coach will fail. A great coach and a bad GM will never let a team reach its potential. You do need both and they need to be on the same page. That's what makes the current situation in Philly very interesting these days. Rex would have benefited from a stronger GM with a true football acumen and personnel experience. A guy who could command the room, overrule Rex at the appropriate times (ex. giving Rex the McKnight pick or T. Boyd pick, etc.). In spots when a guy like Rex can be his own worst enemy you need management to be strong and capable enough to compensate. Our overspending accountant (Tanny) and then an underspending accountant (Idzik) never provided the balance that a true football GM would have. It's what has failed the Jets these past several years. Rex probably has 70% of what it takes to be a great head coach, a Super Bowl winning Head Coach. A good football organization finds a way to accentuate that 70% and then mitigate/compensate for the 30% that the coach is missing. They never had a QB and, at best, they had one decent OC over the past 6 years. With a coach who is clearly weak on offense you need to have more capability on that side of the ball. I fault both Rex and the GM for never getting it right on offense. Watching a guy like Gary Kubiak in Baltimore makes you realize that a strong QB and OC combo can elevate an offense.

And just to think, less than 3 years ago half of JI honestly thought that Sanchez was better than Flacco and Ryan. Lolz And Flacco has endured just as much, if not more, pressure as Sanchez. That was a defensive team during his early years and he was told not to fvck the games up. Pretty much the same as Sanchez minus the color coded system. I remember Ed Reed calling him out once. Somehow Flacco managed not to crumble under the pressure. And this is clearly because of the difference between Rex and Harbaugh.

Agree 100%. I think the Pats are the best team in football right now but I want to see them have to earn it during these playoffs. Baltimore is a good test and this could be a tougher game than the Broncos would/will be.
