a decade on the job and nothing to show for it. Garfs the man. More than a decade. I think this is year 12. What to show for 12 years? 4 playoff trips, with one advancement past the first round. And currently just a middling 8th seed wannabe. Garf is obviously not the man to take the Isles anywhere.

Garf is the fourth longest tenured GM in the NHL right now. Let that sink in. July 2006.
You have David Poile in Nashville, their only GM, since 1998. Expansion team, at least they have a Stanley Cup Finals appearance.
Then you have Ken Holland, also since 1998, in Detroit. Two Cups under him.
And Doug Wilson in San Jose since 2003. No Cups but at least 6 Division Titles.
Every other team has replaced their GM at least once since Garf was hired.
I totally get why Wang kept him around but the new guys, cmon. Time to move on.

Let’s hope these shitbags can put in a full 60 minute effort today. Maybe pull off an upset win.

Haven't been many like this lately. Barzal just keep getting better and better. Great contributions from Beau. Halak was solid in the net. And it was all done in the Garden.
Great game to get started after the bye.

Great game to get started after the bye. Hopefully they can keep that up, and it wasn’t just a Ranger mirage. I’m skeptical after the December turdfest they put on.

Wow, I miss a few games and we have a completely different roster with players I've never heard of. They got killed tonight and still won and as usual....Barzal is fucking amazing. Hopefully once Boychuck and DeHaan come back we'll be better on the blueline because it can't get any worse. Also Dal Colle sucks poop, why did they call him up?

They had no business winning that game tonight. If it is possible for a goalie to play great and still give up 4 goals, Greiss did it. Barzal, Beau and JT are carrying this team right now, but if they can't get healthy on the blue line, and play a gazillion times better in their own end, I just can't see them making a run.

Lucky to get a point, nevermind 2. The book is out on the Isles. Fire a ton of shots on net, 4+ will go in every night. Doesn’t even have to be high quality chances, soft, goals will,go in.
Not going to make any run allowing 35+ shots a game.
I’ll take the 2, but the 6 points in last 3games is a mirage.

I’ve seen a handful of sound tiger games where Dal Colle played. I specifically paid attention to him. He did not impress in any of the soundtiger games I saw.

Another night of 40+ shots. 12 straight periods of 10 or more shots on goal. We need Boychuk and DeHaan back badly -- not that the D was playing all that well early in the season even when healthy.

Injuries happen, and I’m sure the isles will just Weather the storm. No trades will be happening. But I think the big failure on Snow here is that there’s no depth in the lineup if injuries happen. No one seems to be able to step in and do a good job. Also, is there a defensive coach? Richardson? Not fer nuthin, but he should be shitcanned immediately. Additionally, is there a PK coach? Should also be shitcanned. Look at how passive they are, then look at a good teams PK. Night and day.

It is not just the passive, sitting back in the box that is killing the PK, it is the inability to clear when they get chances. How many times this year, do we get our stick on the puck, fail to clear, and then end up giving up a power play goal as our PK unit gets stuck in our own end and is gassed. Seems like it happens almost every night. I did see a report yesterday that Garth is expected to try to acquire a Top 4 defenseman. If he is going to make a move, we need to make it now, not wait until the deadline, which is likely to be too late. Here is the quote from Pierre Lebrun: www.fanragsports.com/lebrun-islanders-would-like-to-upgrade-top-4-via-trade/ “There’s no question from what I’ve been hearing over the last couple of weeks that Garth Snow absolutely, if he thinks his team has a chance to make it, would like to upgrade the Top 4,” said hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun during a Tuesday evening radio hit on Montreal’s TSN 690. “Definitely needs help on defense.
“And I know that a lot of people are saying, ‘The Top 4? What about his goaltending?’ But I think you’re going where I was talking about last night during the Habs telecast on TSN. Of course some of it is goaltending, but look at last night. Now granted, the Islanders are injury-riddled right now and they’re missing a bunch of guys – including Boychuk and De Haan – but even when healthy I think they had an issue where they weren’t good enough. Nick Leddy is having an outstanding year, but they need help there. And that, I believe, is absolutely their point of focus this year."

And the price for a top 4 would be super high.
