We need Boychuk and DeHaan back badly -- not that the D was playing all that well early in the season even when healthy. We need them back badly because they can make the smart, simple pass to get it out of our zone. We just don't have that right now and that is why we are hemmed in our D zone all game long. The only useful Dmen we have right now are Pelech and Leddy....the rest absolutely suck at making that all important critical pass.

It is not just the passive, sitting back in the box that is killing the PK, it is the inability to clear when they get chances. How many times this year, do we get our stick on the puck, fail to clear, and then end up giving up a power play goal as our PK unit gets stuck in our own end and is gassed. Seems like it happens almost every night. I did see a report yesterday that Garth is expected to try to acquire a Top 4 defenseman. If he is going to make a move, we need to make it now, not wait until the deadline, which is likely to be too late. Here is the quote from Pierre Lebrun: www.fanragsports.com/lebrun-islanders-would-like-to-upgrade-top-4-via-trade/ “There’s no question from what I’ve been hearing over the last couple of weeks that Garth Snow absolutely, if he thinks his team has a chance to make it, would like to upgrade the Top 4,” said hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun during a Tuesday evening radio hit on Montreal’s TSN 690. “Definitely needs help on defense.
“And I know that a lot of people are saying, ‘The Top 4? What about his goaltending?’ But I think you’re going where I was talking about last night during the Habs telecast on TSN. Of course some of it is goaltending, but look at last night. Now granted, the Islanders are injury-riddled right now and they’re missing a bunch of guys – including Boychuk and De Haan – but even when healthy I think they had an issue where they weren’t good enough. Nick Leddy is having an outstanding year, but they need help there. And that, I believe, is absolutely their point of focus this year."What top 4 is even out there? And the price for a top 4 would be super high. Agreed. Top 4 D is probably the most valuable, or one of the more valuable, assets out there. The cost to get one will be a lot. Thinking multiple picks and players... which we may have? Oliver Ekman-Larsson from the Coyotes seems to be one name floated out every once in a while.

If you go by the theory that you sell high, I was wondering what we could get in picks by sending Bailey to a contender, then package a couple of picks for a Top 4 guy who is under contract beyond this year.

By the way, pretty sure we can chalk up tomorrow night in Chicago as an "L". I will be heading to the United Ctr for the game. Pretty sure the Isles have lost the last 7 or 8 times I have seen them play live.

Wouldn’t mind dealing Bailey. TBH im highly suspect of Bailey. All of a sudden in a contract year, he plays good. Why not the other 6 years? I really think if he gets paid, he’ll be back to Old bailey next year.

I’d be OK with losing to Boston 5-2 if they played hard for 60 minutes. But it seemed like they totally gave up midway thru the second.

So far so good, Lithfan. Didn’t look good 61 seconds in!

So far so good, Lithfan . Didn’t look good 61 seconds in! Yup. Great night in Chicago. Lot of Islander fans, never knew we traveled that well. First time in 9 years that I got to see my team win.

LOL, a loss to the Yotes. This team is bad. And are excited to battle for a WC. If they did make it, it’d be a quick first round exit.

Columbus, NYR, NJD all in slumps. Isles chance to gain ground. What do they do? Lose to the ****tiest team in the NHL. They’re like the Jets of the NHL. Pats, Miami, and Buffalo all play at 1 and lose. Jets play the Browns at 4 and lose by 17.
All around the world, same song.

But then they come back, on the road, and beat the 2nd best team in the league. I didn't think we were capable of winning a 2-1 game this season. Watched the first two periods last night, Jaro was great. Assume it was more of the same in the 3rd, stopping 16 of 17 shots. Nice when your goalie can steal a win against a top team on the road. 5 points in the 3 game trip, I will take it. And I like the energy this kid Johnston brings. Thought he played really well agaisnt Chicago and picked up his first goal last night. A little muscle on the 4th line never hurts. Hopefully we can get Zeeker and Boychuk back after the break and turn this 3 game point streak into a nice run back into the playoffs.

I think they’re 2 points out of second, and 3 points out of last.

Isles announced they will play 12 games at NVMC next year, and 48 the two years after before they move to Belmont in 3 years.

It would be nice if they could wake up for the 3rd period tonight.
