What is this thread bout? Countdown to kickoff -- similar to what I have done past years, but since this season is likely to be about draft position, I am counting down with an NFL Draft theme. Yesterday was 61 days to the Jets - Bills opener. Mickey Shuler was the 61st overall pick in the dratt. Today we are 60 days -- Ben Rudolph was 60th pick. Will keep going with NFL draft theme down to 1. Got it...in the past we used Jersey #s as part of it...I understands nows

Will still be some jersey numbers in addition to draft position, but I plan to use college jersey numbers.

59 days to go...He may not have been picked 59th overall, but 3rd round pick in 2016, Georgia LB Jordan Jenkins, seems like a good fit for today:

As for the 59th pick, only once in their history have the Jets selected at 59. We have to go way back to 1963, when the Jets selected Dartmouth QB Bill King with the 59th overall pick in the AFL draft: Bill never played for the Jets. Instead, he accepted a teaching job in Athens, Greece upon graduation before going on to law school at the University of Virginia.

What could have been. Oh Mr. King. Rare and interesting find Lith

58 days to go...With the 58th pick (3rd round) in the 1971 NFL draft, the New York Jets selected Chris Farasopoulos, DB, Brigham Young. Farasopoulos played 4 season in the NFL, 3 with the Jets. He started 21 games as a Jet, but I remember more as a special teamer. He returned kicks and punts and had 1 TD, a 65-yard PR against Buffalo in 72. He was waived after the 73 season and signed with New Orleans where he played 1 year.

3 years later, the Jets also held the 58th pick. With the 58th pick in the 1974 draft, the Jets selected Godwin Turk, LB, Saginaw Valley State. Godwin played just one season as a Jet. He missed his rookie year with a knee injury, but did start all 14 games in the 1975 season. The Jets were so impressed with his play that season that they promptly shipped him off to Denver for a 5th round pick prior to the start of the 76 season. He is best known in Denver for dislocating his shoulder while spiking the ball following a fumble recovery. Yup, Big L that is two more swings and misses.

LOL - let's count them both as a single miss at 58. BattIng a cool .750 for crap picks!
