Thanks, Lith, for doing this thread for such a sucky Jets team! Like your approach this year. I won't bother doing my Jets/planes/aeronautic-themed numbers this year, since a) the NY Jets suck (needed to be said again!), b) some people were confused by what I was doing in the past, and c) I don't have the energy given what else is going on with me this year. So, thanks for hanging in there and sharing all these draft picks--good or not!

And 3 years earlier, with the 57th pick in the 2002 draft, the Jets selected DB Jon Mcgraw, Kansas State Another terrible pick, just slightly better than Scott Frost.

Day 55...The only time the Jets have ever selected with the 55th pick in the draft was in the 1965 AFL draft. The 55th pick was in the 7th round back then. And with the 55th pick the Jets selected Joe Dobson T Idaho. Joe was also drafted by the Steelers in the NFL draft that same year. He never played for either team. Instead Joe went on to a career as a realtor in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

I can't let a 70+ year old Idaho realtor be our only entry for day 55. We have selected a couple of pretty good first rounders who wore #55 in college. Nick Mangold, the 29th pick in 2006 And Marvin Jones, the 4th overall pick in 1993

Day 54...Day 54 is a tough one. Never in their history have the Jets selected 54th in the NFL or AFL draft. And no matter how hard I tried, I could not find a Jets draftee who wore #54 in college -- I am sure there is someone out there, but I couldn't find one. It is days like this where you need your best player to step up and make a play. Thanks, Leo.

This thread is going to get painful when we get into the single digits. Aside from Funny Pics and Left or Right, what thread around here is not painful? What? You think birthing a new Jets season comes without the mess? All these Green and white cards and balloons here...We understand; we KNOW that Santa hates our ass; that in 5 months we'll be behind the boxes in the garage; crying like a Cub Scout. Damn you...damn you to hell!

Day 53...In each of the first two years of their existence, the NY Titans held the 53rd pick in the AFL Draft. Pick 53 was 7th round in the 8-team league. And the Titans selected Syracuse WR Fred Mautino in 1961 and Michigan WR George Mans in 1962. Neither man ever played professional football. It would be over 40 years later that the Jets would next select 53rd in the draft. And with the 53rd pick in the 2003 NFL Draft, the NY Jets selected Michigan LB Victor Hobson.

Day 52...Day 52 does not have much going for it. Jets have picked 52nd in the draft twice in their history, none since the 1960s. With the 52nd pick in the 1969 NFL Draft, the NY Jets selected, Al Woodall, QB, Duke. Al played 5 years in the NFL, all with the Jets as Joe Namath's back up. I wonder if the guy at 51 tomorrow will have a better career than Woodall???

And with the 52nd pick in the 1965 AFL draft, the Jets selected Jim Harris, DT, Utah State. Jim played 3 seasons with the Jets from 1965-67 primarily in a back-up role.

Day 51...And, with the 51st pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, the New York Jets selected, Christian Hackenberg, QB, Penn State.
