Hackenberg is not the only QB that the Jets have drafted at 51. Way back in 1965 they selected Archie Roberts, QB, Columbia: Roberts never played for the Jets. He was acquired by the Dolphins in 1967, when he got into one game against KC. He went 5-10 with a pick in a 41-0 loss. It was his only NFL appearance.

Day 50...
Jets have never drafted in the 50th spot in the draft. AFL or NFL. So for Day 50, this is all I got.

Feel free to add your own pics to the thread. I am just posting draft/college pics this year -- either based on player draft position or # they wore in college. Which is why I was stuck with Gholston today -- could not find any other options.

The greatest Jets cheapshot; came out of my shoes when he did that.

Day 49...Four times, the NY Jets have selected 49th in the draft. And is the case with most of their 2nd round picks, 49 has not been very good to the Jets. The best of the bunch came in 2001 when the Jets selected Lamont Jordan, RB, Maryland, with the 49th pick. Solid back-up RB, who had some decent years for the Jets, but not the return you want for a 2nd round pick.

Beyond Jordan, the Jets remaining picks at 49 were all draft busts. At #49 in the 2006 draft, the Jets selected Oregon QB, Kellen Clemens: May be a little harsh to call a guy who has played more than 10 years in the league a bust, but only 9 starts in his 5 years as a Jet -- 51% completions, 5 TDs and 11 picks in those 5 years with a QB Rating below 60. Bust.

3rd in line on the #49 depth chart. 2014 2nd round pick, #49 overall, Texas Tech TE Jace Amaro. I loved the Amaro pick when we made it. Shows what I know.

And finally, with the 49th pick in the 1986 draft, the Jets selected what may have been the worst 2nd round pick in a history of awful 2nd rounders. Doug Williams, OT, Texas A&M. Despite all of the recent 2nd round busts-- Ducasse, Hill, Devin Smith, Amaro, Geno Smith, etc. One thing all these guys have in common. They survived their rookie training camp without being cut. But not Doug Williams. Drafted in April of '86, and cut in August of '86. Probably the only 2nd rounder in Jet history not to make the roster his rookie year. Williams is the guy in the upper right corner. Standing in front of him, #43, is 1987 first round pick, Roger Vick.

Day 48...The only time in their history that the Jets selected 48th in the draft was way back in 1966, which was a 6th round pick in the AFL draft. And with the 48th pick in the 1966 AFL Draft, the New York Jets selected OG, Dick Lemay, Vanderbilt. In addition to being an All SEC lineman at Vandy, LeMay was also the Vanderbilt placekicker. He was also selected by the Washington Redskins in the NFL Draft. He would never play for either team.

Day 47...3 times the Jets have selected 47th overall in the draft. The first time the Jets picked at #47 was in 1980. And, with the 47th pick in the 1980 NFL Draft, the Jets selected Raplh Clayton, WR, Michigan. He would never play in a regular season game for the Jets. Clayton suffered an injury returning a punt during his first pre-season, and missed his rookie year with a stress fracture in his foot. He would be waived during his second pre-season.

And finally, in 2007, the Jets would make a good pick at 47, selecting Michigan LB, David Harris.
