Interesting, i wonder how much competition we'll have for quinn if this is right?
Are we able to make offers/reach agreements in this window between now and the SB? Would hate to wait for him and then have to compete with other teams for him then.

If quinn does become our next HC, iam really curious who he will bring on board with him? Iam wondering with him being new in the HC game will he beable to surround himself with good quality coaches? Like how Marrone would beable to do if he was hired.Ijust wish they hurry the hell up FA and the draft is quickly approching us.. I'm of the belief that we interviewed Tom Cable as a potential assistant coach. I don't really buy that he was even a remotely serious candidate for HC. Plus he came in to interview the same day as Quinn. I think that Cable could potentially be the OC under Quinn if he gets the HC job.

I'm pretty sure that you can I know that Charlie Weis committed to Notre Dame and Romeo Crennel committed to the Browns before the Pats* beat the Eagles in the Superbowl.

WLF?
So Marrone's interview went well or didn't go well?
If we're leaning towards Quinn, he interviewed well and has the thumbs up from the Casserly/Wolf duo then great. Let's try to close the deal. Now.....would Quinn accept?

Now.....would Quinn accept? Don't see why Quinn wouldn't accept The guy grew up in Morristown, New Jersey and would be returning to a team that already has a young, extremely talented DL (his specialty) in place, the 6th overall pick in the draft and anywhere from $53-64 million in cap room to work with depending on what we do with Harvin. Not to mention that if the reports are true, the Jets are prepared to pair him with a GM that he's on the same page with.

Based on all options that seem to be out there this is what I'd like to see happen. As I've stated before I see Marrone as kind middling, high floor, low ceiling...and .500 kinda guy who might make a playoff push occasionally. Get me a relative unknown who could surprise us! That's what Quinn is. I want to swing for the fences (which I think we did with Rex) rather than get a guy who hits singles. I hope you're right and we get Quinn and pair him with a competent, like-minded, personnel-oriented GM. Go Jets!

Long time respected scout/personnel guy who previously worked with Casserly in Washington and Houston. www.houstontexans.com/news/article-3/Texans-name-Maccagnan-director-of-college-scouting/7303cfb9-ec38-4d3e-ae9d-6a86eafe66d4Maccagnan has been with the Texans for 12 years and served as the assistant director of college scouting since June of 2010. In his new role, he will coordinate all of the Texans’ college scouting efforts. In addition, he is involved with evaluating NFL teams and prospects in preparation for NFL free agency.
One of the Texans’ first hires, Maccagnan initially joined the club as a pro scout in January 2000 before being promoted to coordinator of college scouting in April 2000.
Before arriving in Houston, Maccagnan spent the previous six years as a scout for the Washington Redskins. Prior to his tenure with the Redskins, Maccagnan was the director of scouting and player personnel for the CFL’s Ottawa Rough Riders and Saskatchewan Roughriders (1994). He also was the director of player personnel for the World League’s London Monarchs when that franchise captured the league championship in 1991. In 1990, Maccagnan worked in the World League office as a league scout.

Sounds like a true personnel guy, but not much management, salary cap responsibilities, etc. GM could be a big step for him...maybe a bit early? I'm not against it but it sounds like he'll need a strong team (ex. Capologist, etc).

Wait, if Kirchner wasnt supervising the eval work for Schneider, who was? Certainly not Idzik!
If Quinn helps us avoid another of those mishires we owe him already....

I don't see how the hell Kirchner doesn't qualify as a "personnel guy". Maybe he doesn't like him personally. That matters too.

We got no HC and no GM so who is leaking this shit? It's gotta be one of the two old farts right? 95% of leaks in any sport come from agents.

It is quite possible that many GM candidates do not want to work with Marrone b/c of how his exit from the Bills has appeared to be. A Bills assistant coach went on the radio today and tore into Marrone b/c he basically left them high and dry and now all of their jobs hang in the balance. Stuff like that matters in the NFL, it's a very small community.
