Who do you feel is in that Parcells mold that is available? If I had my choice of anyone I'd pick Andy Reed but he's off the table having just signed a new contract with the Chiefs. My second choice would be Sean Payton. I know there's a lot of talk about Bill Cower and "Chucky" Gruden. I'm not certain either has the drive to get back into the grind but I'm hardly an expert on either. I could guarantee one thing. All of the aforementioned individuals would not stand there like an emotionless, sleepy turd on the sidelines. They all would bring passion and energy to the sidelines and the team. Whether that would translate to wins for the Jets is arguable. I'd pass on Sean Payton, it just seems like the dude is picking up a check. I'd pass on Bruce Ariens too, guy is pretty old and seems to have health issues. No way Woody would hire Cowher after what he did awhile ago, plus he hasn't shown any interest in coaching. I thought I read something about Gruden being interested in coming back, and the guy still seems passionate about the game. I wouldn't mind him to be honest.

I think it's more that a QB has the goods and gets drafted more then you draft a marginal QB and he becomes awesome. The "it" factor is just something that scouting departments suck at identifying. Chucky is an offensive minded HC. I disagree with the notion that it takes an O minded HC to develop a QB. I believe it takes a good OC and QB coach to develop a QB. Perhaps the myth is based on the reality that an O minded HC knows a lot of guys who coach the O side of the ball resulting in a better coaching staff on the O side of the ball. The Jets current OC has turned a bunch of crap into a competent O despite the fact that his starting QB hardly played at all in preseason. He seems to know how to call plays that actually work and play to a QBs strengths. I am perfectly comfortable with him developing a QB. In fact, I think he would do a great job. Much like Bruce Arians developed Rothlissberger. it came to me late Sun. that Morton is already in the running to replace Bowles...

Except for the penalties on the Oline and ASJ, we actually look like a pro offense. The D after three years of Bowles still looks like a shitshow. I could definitely see that guy being interviewed. Would be nice to see what he does with Petty or Hack soon.

To continue to win useless games while not developing the young Qb talent. All for worthless fucking W's. 39 year old McCown under center next year.

I trust the coaches who watched these guys at camp, practice, in the classroom, and on film. Please alert me when Petty is scooped up by another team believing he will magically become a quality starting NFL QB once handed a starting job.

Petty is better than a guy who has started for 4 different NFL teams and is completing 70% of his passes this season.

I was in for the Tank and would rather the Jets have lost to KC, but I'm not going to be upset because the guys running the team and coaching the players seem to be better at this football thing than any group that has run the franchise since the brief Parcells era. Not every team has to suck to find their franchise QB at the top on the draft. Pitt, NE, GB, Seattle, Baltimore have all recently won SBs with franchise QBs not taken at the top of the draft. I trust the process and with the QB pool in this draft, the Jets should still be able to land a QB who is far more capable than Petty or Hack in the first (or even second) round.

Todd Bowles is the personification of the New York Jets. Enough to get by but never enough to get over the hump.

I think he should have been looked at. Even if in games that were already decided one way or the other. I am not saying he is the one but we really do not know. People used to say that Brett Farve and Jim Kelly were horrible practice players. Could be the same here but we will never really find out. Say what you want about the Gmen but they really are doing the smart thing for the team while we continue to do the smart thing for the coach.
