I don't know why they wouldn't want him as GM. If they don't want to talk to him about being GM then what are doing talking to him without having a GM in place? Maybe they've heard from their GM candidates that they'd love to hire him as a #2 but they need to move pretty fast since other teams are sniffing around too. if they wait to hire the GM, he could be gone. I think its all part of a thorough due diligence process. They are talking to as many people as possible. Given McLoughan's past situation, I dont think he is the guy to take over as GM, especially for the Jets. His scouting background is excellent, but a GM has a ton of managerial things the needs to either handle himself or delegate, and I dont think McGloughan has enough people in the league trusting him right now that good people would run here to work for him. He would be an excellent "Right Hand Man" as far as director of college scouting to replace Bradway. That not only helps our scouting department, but if he has another issue with alcohol, he can be fired and replaced without uprooting the entire FO as would be the case if he was GM and needed to be let go. I would honestly take any of the GM guys we have interviewed (outside of the Cleveland Football Admin guy) if it also meant Quinn as HC and McGloughan as head of scouting. That would be an excellent group to start with building an organization.

Would love Kirchner as GM with McCloughlan as the Senior Personnel Executive, the same role he had in Seattle. He and Kirchner have already worked together. The fact that they are talking to Mcloughlin for a role other than the GM tells me that they have decided on their GM and I think it is Kirchner. Then I think Dan Quinn will be announced on Thursday and Trestman will be the OC. I think this is how it will go down.

Boner pants: activate media.giphy.com/media/47e5KK0soIAo/giphy.gifI lol'd a bit at this passage from the article. Sounds like could have been a buddy for Rex: "I had a drinking problem," he says. "I'm a good person. And I know how to run a team."
So, how to make sense of the fact that, shortly after I arrive, he sits in an overstuffed recliner in his living room to watch the Thursday night NFL game and opens a light beer?
Hey - it's a lite beer - amirite??

McCloughan supposedly turned down the Raiders. Doesn't want to report to Reggie McKenzie.
So I guess it's down to us and Washington.
And I don't know why the fuck he would choose to work for a meddling dummy owner like Snyder or a spineless yes man like Bruce Allen.

@rapsheet 2m2 minutes ago It will be a 4-year deal for Scot McCloughan and the #Redskins, I’m told. Goes without saying, it’s a huge hire from a personnel standpoint.

McCloughan had discussions with the Redskins, Raiders and Jets. In the end, the Skins job fit him best.
This guy must still be drinking his ass off. Have fun in Washington with Snyder meddling in every affair.
