I nominate you for the job of door-to-door confiscation. Nonsense post by Frank. He and his ilk never speak of the "sick coward black boys that have no business owning guns" in Chicago, Baltimore, LA, Missouri that assassinate their own by the hundreds every year. The media wont speak of it either, until LE has the bad fortune of running into these guys. All hand-wringing and pose, no answers. So what do you suggest we do? Keep praying until this stops?

I nominate you for the job of door-to-door confiscation. I don't want to confiscate. And even if i wanted to, it would never be feasible. I would like to see tighter gun laws. I would like to see semi automatic guns banned to the general public. I would like to see more common sense gun laws. Where gun owners have to obtain licenses in every single state, take gun safety courses, background checks, have better tracking of what gets sold and where, etc. We do need to change something. Praying isn't cutting it. What we're doing isn't working. You know another one of these mass shootings are going to happen in the near future. And again and again. Let's try something new for once. So what happens to all the existing "semi automatic guns" once we ban the manufacturing and sales? Literally millions of them. Do we just pray that they dont end up in the wrong hands?

Enforce existing gun laws (not done, experienced this during 20 years in LE). Extreme vetting, waiting period before gun purchases. A legal gun owner probably stopped this thing today. Recognize we have a serious mental illness problem that cant be rectified with meds, the taking of which, we cannot monitor. Many of the people running around today, would have been institutionalized 40 years ago....but it became politically incorrect to do it..and there are virtually no places to put "insane" people. The Concept itself is politically incorrect. We mainstream them, and hope for the best. Some people are "fucking nuts". It is what it is. ALways was, but now we cant palate it. Not nice to say, uncomfortable to deal with...no place to put them. Give em meds, let them go, hope for the best. Save the State Billions.

Nobody does. Only solution is confiscation. So shit or get off the pot. Virtue signaling and trying to shame the NRA isnt going to do shit.

We can find illegals and kick them out of the country, right? At least we attempt to. Try something. Anything. Change the status quo. I really don't care what they do as long as they do something. Have a real plan and stick to it. At least try to control the damage guns do in this country.

The solution to all political bureaucracy is Term Limits. Sadly, it won't happen in this lifetime.

Confiscate from who? Legal owners? Lets say they are dumb enough to answer the door and give them up. Now what. Whose door do you knock on next. There are millions of illegal guns out there. Anonymous people and weapons that will never be located or identified. Now they are the only ones with guns? You see what I'm saying? The guy who stopped this prick today would have been unarmed had we followed confiscation..because he would have complied..and the loon would have hidden his gun. Not so easy as many think. I wish for a world with no guns..but I cant have that. So I wish for a world where everyone has one. If one poor worshipper in that Church had a gun today, things might have been different.

There is a document that was written by a bunch of racist white men that says we cant pass ex post facto laws. So when you're done take down their statues and renaming everything you can get started on that amendment.

I don't think this is easy. If it were, we'd have it figured out by now. Washington does need to figure something out though. At least try something different. Common sense laws like the ones you mentioned in that earlier post is a really good start. I'm not in any position to change or create laws, so these aren't my decisions to make. Guys armed to the teeth shooting into crowds from hotels, people going into churches and shooting up innocent people in children, people going into elementary schools and shooting classes filled with 6 year olds... what's next? There are no limits anymore and it's going to keep happening. The current system doesn't work.

Our current system no longer recognizes this designation. Its politically incorrect, and expensive to the state to house/treat them. The money to deal with this has long since been reallocated for policial ends. The insane wander the streets, they inhabit our neighborhoods, ignoring meds, delving into the deepest darkest parts of the internet on their computers..unsupervised. Some do late night football podcasts no one listens to and refuse to take pics of hot chicks arses on the treadmill. It's a burden for us all.

So would you say something like what happened in NYC the other day to be the action of a madman like in these cases? Or is Islam to blame there and we're not dealing with the mentally deranged in those situations? I see no difference other than the choice of weapon, but that's my opinion.

Given the prevalence of inbreeding in certain parts of the world its very possible the answer is both.
