Looking at it the wrong way ... must look at it not by losses, but by wins. Draft-wise, we're in bad shape, number 22 or so right now. There are a bunch of teams at 5 & 5 to 4 & 6. We need them to continue to win, and for us to lose. So our draft destiny is in our hands. And we can do it. Out of the 5 & 5 through 4 & 6 bunch, the only ones capable of blowing them all are the Dolphins, and maybe the Bills. But if each of them win one or two more games, and we blow them all, then we'll be in with the worst 6 or 7 ... and then we must root for the Colts, Bears and Broncos to pull one or two games out ... so we will have the 4th pick. But we have to look at this realistically. We're talking about Jets' drafting ... and history tells us that we'll pick a bum even with the 1st pick.

We will be picking very close to 9 or 10 And will know nothing about Petty or Hack, but we can just assume they will look just like every other Jets QB ever drafted ... minus Pennington smarts

What the hell does it matter how many teams are trading up? The team that provides the best trade value will move up. Its not fucking rocket science. Do you not understand his trading up from 6 or 8 or 10 would be more difficult than trading up from 4 or 5? How fucking stupid are you. Get as close to the 2 as possible. When you were a child did you gaze from your bassinet into high tension wires? _ I suspect paint chips were involved as well.

It was a good weekend for us, could have been great if the Colts had held on for the win, but a good weekend still. Things can get better with a Texans win tonight.
We jumped ahead of the Bengals, Chargers, Raiders and Cardinals in the race to the #4 pick.
Next two weeks are going to be huge...arguably winnable games for us: Home vs. the Chiefs who have turned into dogshit and @ Denver - both are must LOSE games.

Okay ... I'm past yesterday's typical, Jets' bullshit performance ... so where are we? Right now I believe they would pick 9th. And with the two second rounders, not bad for more defense and some offense ... but not a QB. But we have to consider that none of the college QBs look like they can't miss. There is no Watson in the 2018 draft class. So if these two, Bowles and Mac, stay around next year they have to join at the hip and consider a free agent QB ... and it looks like there will be a few on the market. For the rest of the season I see them winning one more game ... either against the Chiefs or the Broncos. So we're talking 5 & 11, which will probably keep them at number 9 at best. The only disturbing thing is ... and it's a very, very large disturbing thing ... they're the Jets.

Draft gurus were all over the map on him. He could just have easily gone round 2 as where he went. Houston just massively lucked out with him. _

Of course SOS can shift dramatically in the last 5 weeks of the season. Also remember head to head is NOT a tiebreaker, SOS is the first primary tiebreaker - so just because we lost to the Bucs doesn't mean we will draft ahead of them...even if we are the only two teams tied at a 4-12 record at the end of the year. Weaker SOS wins out. www.tankathon.com/nfl

Houston just massively lucked out with him. _ Draft is a crap shoot. That may, in fact, be true. Likely is. But it still doesn’t dispel the basic notion that you want the highest pick possible, in every single round. Rooting does nothing, it doesn’t win games, it doesn’t lose games. It’s just something we do. So whilst we can’t control how these slap-dicks play, rooting to lose out and get the highest possible pick just makes logical sense. Considering how crap shooty the draft is, we should want as many options available to us as possible, or be as close to where we want to be so the trade up costs as little as possible. As long as my GM is anyone other than John Fucking Idzik, I’m going to give him all the latitude in the world to move up as high as possible to get the QB the team wants. _
