Justin Hayward's voice, in his prime, was great. That said, progressive rock and concept albums are for faggots and Gary Moore fans. But yeah, fuck Ian Anderson. Ian Anderson was a REALLY good dude. Back in 1978, sophomore year up in Syracuse, Jethro Tull played at the War Memorial downtown. Great great concert, after we all head back up the hill to campus for drinks and back then there were only a few bars on campus, so we all hit the biggest and the best -The Orange- a dive bar really- for late nite shenanigans. About an hour and a half after the concert was over, the bar is starting to clear out, and a few long-haired dudes straggle in and Ian Anderson is leading the lot of them—the whole band and some roadies and they all plop down at the bar and start bullshitting with us and Anderson actually bought beers for a bunch us. Hung out till closing time. Was one of the coolest experiences for a college sophomore and something that would NEVER happen again. Have always liked and respected the guy for that. And...you know...Locomotive Breath. _ Fantastic story and experience. I would have flipped out. Probably spend the whole time talking to their guitarist, the extraordinary Martin Barre, trying to get him to explain his chords and fingerings (no homo).

And they were a massive success by 1978. Can you imagine any band over the last 20 years with all their handlers just dropping by a college dive bar? By themselves? “Hey Bono, t’sup.” “Bruce, my MAN!” _

I gotta say, was not a fan of John Evan’s stage antics. Looked like he was forcing it too much. How the fuck do I remember that but I can’t remember to unzip my fly before peeing? _

No doubt on talent or musicianship, just not my cup of tea. Cool. They were "The shit" back then too, though I wasnt a huge fan. Must have been surreal. Yeah I guess I was just reaching there, have heard the same. But also heard he no longer accepts trick or treaters at his house. Also, could be a rumor, heard that he sued his daughters horseback riding school because she was promised an Arabian and got an Andalusian instead. Man of the people. And I’m a huge Bruce fan. _

Knights is White Satin makes me want to shove pencils in my ears. I think if Gordon Lightfoot had ever covered it, that would have been the most boring song ever performed. _ Gordon Lightfoot made me want to punch people with Canadian accents in the throat. Even with Alex Trebek on life support, I would work around the tubing to deliver a blow to his trachea because he says "dullerssss" instead of "dollars". Fuck THAT.
Anyhoo, at the risk of being called a sprem-belching gutter-snipe, I thought "Long Distance Voyager' was a really good album. Not a fan of "Knights", but that album was alot more accessible than their earlier stuff, imho. It took Viola Wills to make "If You Could Read My Mind" a hit, so fuck Gordon Lightfoot and his make-believe Indian name.
