I was on the Hack train until he could not beat Petty for backup. I wish there was something tangible that would make me think he could be the FQB the Jets so desperately need, but there is less than nothing as far as I can see.

I doubt the kid has a future as a starter here, but why get rid of a guy who is only going to be 23 years old next season, has immense physical ability and still has 2 years left on a cheap rookie deal?
I don’t see the harm in keeping him around as the #3.

I'd rather a late round pick or an udfa unseating him.....he doesn't belong in the NFL and I don't give a rats ass about his age or this immense physical ability you speak of. He's putrid and I don't want him wasting a roster spot.

I do not want to have him take one snap away from any other QB we can put on this roster.
I don’t believe he will ever be even a respectable third string QB.
And I don’t equate immense physical characteristics with “ability”.
And the “he’s only XX years old” got old a year ago.

Stranger shit has happened. Kurt Warner went from an undrafted Arena football player stocking shelves to the Super Bowl winning QB. Wayne Chrebet was the #13 out of 13 WRs in Jets camp his rookie year. You need to take the emotion out of it and disregard what the media says.
I agree with the others that said there is no reason to cut the kid. You never know, Deshawn Watson might not be ready in Houston and Hack gets traded to reunite with his college coach who he had great success with.

To be honest, there is no emotion for me to take out. Not like Geno who I always thought was a punk and a bad QB even back at WVU. I don’t dislike Hack, I would like to root for him. I just think he’s a reallly really bad QB and his fear of the pass rush will never allow him to even be adequate. Cut bait. Draft the kid out of Richmond in the 7th round. _

He doesn’t have some kind of longterm future here but yeah, he’s physically talented enough to keep around as the #3 for at least another year.

Hell, he fits New England like a glove and is even a big Lacrosse guy. Belidick will eat that shit up.

Let me throw this out there...Does ANY young inexperienced QB have a chance with Bowles in charge? If no, did Hack ever have a chance? If yes, is Hack so bad that Bowles is absolved of fault?

Hack was awful absolutely awful coming out of Penn State. Bill Walsh couldn’t have fixed him. Don’t blame Bowles. Blame Mac for taking him. _

I'd like to participate in the poll about Hack. However, the dumb ass coach didn't put him on the field so anyone could get a feel for his progress, in spite of a team not even sniffing the playoffs.
