Uh, has anyone here every verbally accepted an offer from another company, then leveraged it or turned it down when you got a better offer from your current company? Of course you have. This happens in the private sector all the time. Nothing to see here except that the Colts were dolts (hey, that rhymes!) to announce a deal before McDaniels had signed on the line which is dotted. True. People do it all the time. Usually, though, they don't wait weeks after verbal acceptance, where support staff has already been hired or in the process of moving. He caused a lot of other people chaos. And most of us don't work in very closed industries like the NFL. There's only 32 head coaching spots. If you do what he did in my industry, word gets around. Do it in the NFL, and they will really REALLY remember. He burned bridges, which isn't smart. Like I said the other day, hope he has a iron clad guarantee hes taking over when Beli leaves because a whole lot of NFLers are really turned off by his actions. Plus, he really wasnt that impressive a head coach the last go round.

not the same thing. He hired staff and had agreements with others. He fucked them more then he did the colts. He is a shit and will never work outside the NEP in the NFL. Heaven help him if he is not successful when he takes over. He will become the laughing stock of the NFL as well as the asshat of the NFL. At least the Colts are doing the right thing honoring the new assistants contracts but putting the new HC in a very awkward position of not being able to pick his own assistants for those positions. www.google.com/amp/s/coltswire.usatoday.com/2018/02/07/indianapolis-colts-news-keep-assistant-coaches-hired-by-josh-mcdaniels/amp/Still, what kind of asshole makes his assistant coaches uproot their lives and then back out if the deal? A massive asshole. _ Those assistants will last a year at best under whoever is the new HC. He'll want to bring his own people in eventually.

IMO the real story here is the likelihood that McDaniels has been offered the job of succeeding Belidick. Which means that Belidick has given the Patriots a timeline for his retirement. That's pretty big news. An ancillary story is the likelihood that, despite the disclaimers of that Colts FO, Luck's shoulder is toast and his career as an NFL starter is over. And McDaniels found out. Both are bigger stories. But whatever.

Its pretty much been the worst kept secret in football that Belidick is done when Brady is done. No one sees him starting over with a rookie QB at his age.
Most likely McDaniels inherits a similar mess to what he would elsewhere, and gets to be thought of as a douchebag to boot.
Although that same exact scenario worked for Belidick when he joined the NEP, he just got lucky hitting on that 6th rounder from Michigan.

What would be really funny is if the Pats offense stumbles a bit next year, Brady and Belidick both retire, and Kraft decides there’s no way he’s entrusting the future of the team to a cocksmith like McDaniels.
Then he’s out on his ass with not so much as an OC job waiting in the wings.

Well it would seem Colts got last laugh... and IMO clearly the better coach. Can't wait to see McFuckface fail spectacularly for a 2nd time.

McDaniels isn't a narcissistic sociopath like Mumbles. Can't wait until he takes over with no Brady, Gronk, Danny Assa-hola and a leaky defense. The Cheats will be bottom feeders for years and McDaniels will be run out of town on a rail after 2 1/2 seasons.
