I don't trust a word Cimini says, but am I crazy for being all about this? Yeah we are going to overpay Cousins, but we have cap space and he's a 4k 30td QB and I'm not in love with any of the college QBs this year. It also means probably keeping our 6th pick and 2 second rounders since, unless we are ok with ANY of the QBs falling, we will have to trade up to get the one we want. We may even be able to trade back if Mayfield or someone falls... pick up that elite guard and a center/tackle/wr.

As they should
The Jets aren’t getting a guy like Darnold without mortgaging a shitload of picks and I’m not flipping the coin on some boom or bust 2 year project like Allen or Mayfield over signing Cousins.
The Jets have the opportunity to nab their starting QB for the next 5+ years and still have an abundance of resources to build a nice foundation around him.

I ll go on record now. Don't do it. No. Bad feeling boys. Agreed. Stupid move. More wasted time and mediocrity. Pussy Macc should go with mayfield but he’s a wuss and knows he won’t get the chance to let Mayfield develope. Which means they go for cousins. The only hope is that cousins really does want to play for a winner and decides to go someplace else.

I ll go on record now. Don't do it. No. Bad feeling boys. I guess when you've spent your entire adult life as a fan of a team that has only seen a QB top 4,000 yards passing one time (and by 7 whole yards), the thought of having a QB on the roster that threw for 4,000 yards in 3 consecutive seasons would of course give you a horrible feeling.
Why go for the guy who's just entering his prime and has excelled for multiple consecutive seasons with a weak supporting cast, when you can mortgage a bit more of your future on pure hope that some random rookie can grow into the level of productivity that the available veteran has already established?

^ cuz he will get killed out there. We have no supporting cast.
Plus his name is Kirk. Fucking Kirk.

For the record, we fully agree on 'Kirk'.
But on getting killed - so will a rookie. Except a rookie's development will be stunted, whereas Cousins might actually raise the level of performance of the team. Solidfying the QB spot makes you better everywhere. If KC wasn't available, I'd say go with the rookie of course, but the Jets have a chance to accelerate the rebound here with a relatively young player at the top of his game at the most important position on the field, with draft picks to support.
Cousins will likely turn the Jets away, but in my view this move is a no-brainer for the fans of this shitty team. We would all sign up today for a rookie that eventually grows into a player that can throw for 4K in 3 straight seasons. Why not get the young player who JUST did that, and is available now without the need for development time?

Just got a CBS Sports notification that AJ McCarron is the backup plan and that Cincinnati offered to trade him to us before last season, but were asking too much.
