Fuck LIR and fuck Dennis McNamara for changing the format. Didnt remember it like that..music changed and their were many nefarious legal machinations bearing down on the whole operation for years before it finally got slammed and shut down. FUCK THE FCC is more my thought. The show was pretty cool, hi-lighted many places I used to hang and brought back many memories of a more innocent time. The amount of bands that had their tunes played for the first time on that sh*tty Hempstead stations airwaves....is staggering. I had forgotten. Had no idea Baba booie was an intern there, lol.

Finally watched it last night. What a trip! Every dance club had at least 1 "WLIR" night a week, and they usually changed the name for that night: Uncle Sam's/SPIT, The Bijou/Spize, Metro700/007. Some clubs kept the same name and it was on you to remember which might was which, but after awhile, they just mixed in the more popular New Wave with dance. (New Order, Human League, etc). Good times. They even gave a shout out to Thrush in RVC, which was so small I didn't think too many people knew about it.

Like I said, WLIR got boys and girls together. Girls liked to strip to New Wave; don't ask me why.
