So what happens if Teddy starts and goes all Nick Foles and leads us deep into the playoffs looking every bit the franchise QB along the way? What happens then? He’s only 25.
The obvious answer is trade him but what if Darnold busts and you just traded away a legit starting franchise QB for the next decade? The dynamics are not the same as with Foles because Philly knew Wentz could play, we don’t with Darnold.
This is typical Jets no QB for 3 gazillion years then one drops in their laps the minute they go all in on a kid.

Franchise him for 2019 -- would cost a ton of cap space, but could keep him around another year to have a better idea what you have in Darnold. Trade him.
Let him go and get a comp pick for him.
Trade is probably most likely -- but lets not get too far ahead of ourselves. These are just positive reports from OTAs. I hope he plays well and gives us some options, but we still have no idea how the knee holds up to contact.
