Who is on your list?
Woody has a track record of hiring only first time, rookie head coaches including Herm Edwards, Eric Mangini and Rex Ryan. Does he break from that mold and go with a retread? A Cowher, a John Gruden, a Mike Holmgren even???
One guy I'd like the Jets to look at is Todd Bowles, DC from Arizona. He's an up-and-comer in the league and will be a HC someday.

He was here like 15 years ago as a DB coach.

If the Jets can manage to lose out, which seems probable in light of the fact that the Vikings and Tennessee are away games, the Jets will likely have the #1 or #2 pick. That may be enough to coax Gruden or Cowher out of retirement. Both know you need a QB to succeed and if either thinks the guy the Jets can draft is a cornerstone type QB, they may like their chances to succeed. I see it this way, 1) for Cowher - Winston is a lot like Roethlisberger and 2) for Gruden - Mariotta runs the Chip Kelly Offense and Gruden has a man crush on Chip Kelly and his offense.

I know it's not going to happen, but I really like Mark Dantonio from Mich. St.

I am with the folks who don't automatically eliminate Defensive guys. Bowles is an outstanding candidate, and I think SeanMcDermott could be a successful guy too. As far offensive guys, Pep Hamilton is way up there, but a really intriguing guy to me is Frank Reich. Former QB now OC has been given credit for the resurgence of Rivers career in San Diego. If we are getting a QB early, I would love a guy like Reich to be able to mold him.
As far as past coaches, there aren't really that interest me outside of Harbaugh, and we are at least 3rd in line for him after Michigan and the Bears.

He didn't build that team or instill the toughness. They've been progressively getting less tough the longer Singletary been gone. And I'm not even remotely impressed with Kappernick.

Hence the reason he is looking to bail on the Santa Clara 49ers while his stock is at an all time high.
