Who’s starting at QB for the Jets tonight? I would assume McCown plays the first series, Bridgewater plays until halftime and then Darnold plays the entire 2nd half. I am hoping they do it a little differently. Mccown gets one, then Darnold behind 1s/2s into the 3rd quarter. I don't want to see Darnold out there in the 4th quarter behind guys who are 3rd and 4th on the depth chart. Bridge can get the 4th.
Although I can see Bowles playing it your way and forcing Darnold to earn 2nd team and eventually first team reps.

I’d personally love to see that as well. I don’t want Teddy hurt or anything, but if anyone is going to take a beating, let it be the guy that you have $500k invested in. There was a NY Post article earlier where Bowles alluded to using a combo of 1st and 2nd stringers on the OL when Darnold is in.

First let me say that I am not a big Stephen A. fan. I actually think he could be a much better host if he stopped acting like an ass so often. I've heard him do interviews that I really like but all too often, he goes out of his way to be annoying. But I guess that is part of his shtick. Anyway, I just watched a quick clip on ESPN where he was talking about Mayfield. He was complementary but he also said to "pump the brakes" on the hype over last night's game. Then he went on to say that is was against the giants and proceeded to absolutely trash the giants D. He said Mayfield had so much time in the pocket that he could have called his girlfriend and made dinner reservations.

The other thing with Teddy is that if you want to trade him for a pick, he is going to have to show that his knee will respond well to contact. I don't want to see the guy get hurt, but if he takes a couple of hits and is full go in practice and for next week's game, it is only going to increase his value in the trade market.

Watched it on NFL Network, and the announcers were like, great throw blah blah and all I was thinking was, not only shitty D but 3rd stringers. On his 1st TD pass if that was week 1 it would have been INT or batted down. All that said, Sammy could look like that tonight as well, great against the roster cuts.

Just remember, last season, Browns went 4-0 in the preseason, and Kevin Hogan was putting up numbers like Joe Montana's. Then the regular season started and they were still the Browns. Mayfield looked good last night, very good.
But until they win a couple in the regular season, they are still the Browns.

Cowherd showed the stats from his first pre-season game last year earlier on his show. 11-18, 183 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT’s Fast forward 7 months later and he was traded to Green Bay. Even if Darnold balls out tonight, we should try to keep it in perspective. I personally think he’s going to be fucking great and many of us in the draft forum were saying this back in the fall of 2016 after he had only started 4-5 games at USC. But tonight will do virtually nothing to reinforce or dissuade that stance. We’ll have to wait until the real bullets start flying.

If he does that tonight then I will be happy since I feel that was his biggest problem in college.

I think the kid has gotten too much flak for his performance last year. 3/5 of his starting OL was ravaged by injury early in the season and his top target in the passing game, Deontay Burnett, didn’t even get drafted. He basically had Ronald Jones in the backfield and that was it. The rest was up to him. He pressed most of the season trying to play hero ball and as a result, his turnovers increased. The INT’s don’t even really bother me. It’s the fumbles that he needs to clean up. And the majority of those stemmed from him not keeping both hands on the ball in the pocket. I think that’s a pretty easy fix and something that he himself has said that he’s been working tirelessly on ever since hooking up with Jordan Palmer. Mariota had a similar problem at Oregon but it hasn’t followed him to the pros.
