Did the best he could given the garbage protection. The pick was really his only bad play. Didn't light it up but didn't really raise any concerns either, IMO.

The offensive game plan just seemed off. Maybe it was by design, but I don't recall seeing much play action or moving the pocket, give Sam a chance to throw on the move. THere was the one rollout early where Kerrigan seemed to know it was coming, and after that, they just didn't seem to play to Sam's strengths. A lot of empty backfield, short routes, get the ball out quickly. Again - was it by design that every throw was short, to protect him behind a banged up OL. He never took a shot deep and once Wash took away the short stuff, he had trouble moving the ball.
Not going to kill him for the pick, since it was 4th down. Incompletion is same as a turnover there -- maybe he made a bad read trying to force it to Kearse in doube coverage -- I would need to wathc the replay to see if he had a better option.
Very meh performance.

Very meh performance. I feel like he got fooled a bit on the pick. The safety had Powell as his assignment but broke off at the last second and dropped in front of Kearse. Maybe that was by design, but looked more like a nice individual play by the defender IMO. Looked like Kearse would have been open otherwise.

The Giants will be building around Andrew Luck in the next year or two. Heard it here first. I dunno, if you believe Irsay, and thats a big if, they've turned down big trade offers for Luck before. The Giants dont seem like the kind of organization thats going to unload a bunch of high draft picks for a guy with an injury history who at that point would be 30/31. Plus he's a west coast guy, if he's got any say in a trade, Id think he's going out west.

I didnt think Darnold looked awful, but not great either. If I have any concerns about him starting, its because of the patchwork OL and not his performance.

Honestly without seeing the coaching film (whole 22) to see coverages he may not have had anything else. All in all the outcome was the same as an incompletion and better than a sack. It is preseason and I don't want the QB taking unnecessary hits. I don't even care about not going for the FG from the 20. I think it was a good situation to see what the team could do. As long as they learn from it I am good with it.

My opinion, Sam Darnold has NOT proven he's starting material. He looks like a great up and coming player but his last game was a regression from his first imo. It makes no sense to rush the kid. Besides, the Jets have options available to them. Teddy Bridgewater looks like an excellent player also. Bridgewaters trade value can only go up right now with every successive good throw he makes. Why not let him start and let Sammy learn further from McCowns tutelage? Sammy can earn the starting gig as the season wears on with improved play. That's exactly how Aaron Rodgers earned his way, why can't we make Darnold do the same?

Who knows what he could have done his rookie season if the situation were different. I agree that Bridgewater looks like a more complete QB right now but we have seen 2 preseason games. The coaches have seen minicamp, camp, film room, team meetings, etc. I think we have to trust them to make the right decision. If they feel he is ready then I am all for putting him out there. If they feel Bridgewater is the answer I am all for that. If they feel McCown is the answer then I give up.

Has there been anyone who has been critical of Darnold or the pick? Someone with clout.
I cant remember a Jets player, let alone a QB getting this much praise.
Feels weird.

I know after the fact every one will pile on. But is there anyone that has put their name on it already? And I said someone with clout. That rules out this forum.
