I'm all for anything which can be done to enhance the safety for the players. However, there are going to be a ton of 15 yard penalties this year which will adversely effect games turning losers into winners and vice versa.

Agree with you that they should do what they can to improve player safety -- but without changing the nature of the game. It is a rough game, guys are going to get hurt, and they can't legislate injuries out of the game. Looks like some of these guys have no idea how they are supposed to make a tackle. I am just hoping they are overcalling it in preseason and will back off a bit once the regular season starts.

Safety is one thing ultimately changing winning odds based on a minor mistake is another. Some of these guys dive in trying to tackle the mid body of their opponents. If the other guy shifts in the moment and thereβs helmet to helmet these 15 yds will be a detriment to the overall advantage.

Goodall realized he can't continue to influence games with questionable out of bounds or over the goal line or was that a catch calls anymore. He has to be more subtle with helmet calls to keep games close and maximize viewership. It's an entertainment company boys and girls, although I wonder how legalized gambling will impact his ability to influence outcomes.
Put on your tin foil hats folks, you'll see the obvious.

These rules are made by lawyers trying to decrease liability for the league. They know more CTE lawsuits are coming.
Your head is above your shoulders thus you will always lead with your head. Everyone knows this but we are supposed to ignore it. Its like how we are supposed to ignore the fact that some dude is walking around in heels and a skirt and we are supposed to call him a girl.
