Just hear me out on this before I get tarred and feathered...
1) the defense for me still has some things to clean up. Despite not giving up a touchdown they still commit a lot of penalties and the biggest problem this defense has always had - turnovers. This defense sucks when it comes to generating turnovers. This is a problem that goes all the way back to Rex. This defense was 25th overall last season meanwhile the defense is loaded with talent. There's a lot of new faces on this defense and not very good chemistry that I can tell.
2) The OL is a huge problem. Unless Mac manages to trade for a decent OL I have no problem predicting this OL is going to get one or more QB's hurt. There's still a good possibility that some of the starters won't even be healthy enough to start come opening day.
3) The ST's is horrid. This unit is terrible in regards to both talent and coaching. They give up big plays one right after another. There are no Leon Washington's or Brad Smith's waiting to be discovered on this ST.
Why not wait on starting Darnold and go with veteran savvy and established leadership qualities in Ted Bridgewater? We all know he's the best QB on the roster right now. His accuracy is off the charts.
By starting Bridgewater we not only can further build his brand in the event of a trade, but there are also a number of great advantages besides. The entire team can gel faster and build more chemistry under a proven leader like Ted. McCown, our QB coach, will have more time to prep Darnold for his eventual start. The defense can work on their problems with turnovers and penalties and become a better , more finished unit when Darnold starts. Maybe something, ANYTHING, can be done with the ST's? Right now they look like a fucking disaster and in time they can only get better.
Doesn't it make the most sense to send Darnold out there when this team is playing at it's very best and most conducive to Darnold being successful and building his confidence? Start Darnold after about 4 to 6 games, maximize Bridgewaters trade value before the deadline and have this team playing at it's very best when Toilet makes the change? To me, that would be maximizing the Jets chances at succeeding and winning more than 5 games in 2018. Your thoughts??

I've been saying this, let Teddy Or MCC start bring Sammy mid game and start him Game 6+ or even next season.
I think he should become more seasoned like a Rogers and then let him show what he's got.

disagree - he should start. Hold the OL responsible if he's running for his life. either way, its good experience.

We are gonna suck no matter what. He needs to learn how to be an NFL Qb. He will not do it on the bench and if he sits this year he is still not an NFL Qb going into next year. Let him run for his life, dodge Dline men and learn how to operate in the NFL. Then in 19 when we have a few more parts to the puzzle the dude will be able to rock. Otherwise he pretty much stays a rookie until he plays next year.

There's nothing to be learned sitting on the bench. He's good, let him learn.

The problem is he actually won the job. And he beat two guys that can actually play the position still. Unlike Sanchez beating a geriatric Mark Brunell.
A healthy Bridgewater gives us our best chance to win in 2018. But everyone knows we arent playing for 2018.
Since he won I would let him start. The OL may stunt his growth though. Definitely a possibility.

3 games in 10 days. Iβd say start Bridge first two then Darnold, to give the OL some time to gel, and showcase Bridge for trade bait. But with 3 in 10, the OL probably be dead tired that third game and get Sam killed.

Let Teddy show off and increase his trade value.

Perplexing question whether to start him or not start him. I get all the negatives with the O line a the line, get them motivated, scan the waiver wire for talent upgrades and be ready to spend money next season on the O line..
