Cant keep him safe from the boogeyman forever. The kid won the job. Honestly, I respect you but I think you're wrong here. Darnold did not win the job. He's being given the job. Bridgewater won the job as he showed better accuracy and great leadership skills maintaining stats as good as Darnold while working with lesser talent. Then I see how horribly the st is playing, I see the OL down two players right now and zero depth, I see the defense give penalty after penalty and I say to myself, this is not a situation that's conducive to a young QB learning and building. Then I say to myself the Jets owe Sam Darnold nothing except an opportunity to start when the time is right. I do not believe it's the right time to throw Sam is into a pressure cooker of an underperforming team that has to play 3 games in 10 days to start the season. honestly I'm starting to think Sammy might be more durable for that tenner than Teddy would be. But I rather they start Teddy too

Haven't been this optimistic about a rookie QB in ages

Haven't been this optimistic about a rookie QB in ages Feel the same way, but as a Jet fan for 50+ years, there is still a part of me that expects to fuck it all up. Whenever we as Jet fans begin to get our hopes up, something inevitably happens and we come crashing back down to earth. 2 consecuitve road playoff wins in 82 and then that fucker Shula leaves the field uncovered to neuter us. 10-1 start followed by 5 straight losses in 86, then Gastineau roughed the passer and the sesason ended. Vinny's injury following the 98 season. Doug Brien's 2 missed FGs in 04 when we should have upset the Steelers in Pitt. Favre's torn bicep after an 8-3 start. Two consecutive AFCCG's followed by the meltdown in 2011. The overtime win vs NE in 2015, only to fvck it all up the next week in Buffalo. I feel like Charlie Brown -- just waiting for Lucy to pull that damn ball back again at the last minute.

Kid seems to have a QB super computer between the ears and his demeanour is the icing on the cake.

Bridgewater won the job as he showed better accuracy and great leadership skills maintaining stats as good as Darnold while working with lesser talent. Just wondering what data backs this up? "Leadership" is a very subjective thing, and by all accounts by players and opponents, Darnold was doing just fine leading the team, commanding the huddle, etc. when he was in there.

Haven't been this optimistic about a rookie QB in ages I feel like Charlie Brown -- just waiting for Lucy to pull that damn ball back again at the last minute. Lol so true. I'll feel that way even as the clock ticks to zero on a Jets 24-10 SB victory. I'll be checking under the couch and in the closets for assailants waiting to kill me.

She asked, wide eye, "but why honey he seems really good and everyone is saying good things about him". I said " That means he will die in a horrible accident after the season". Her response. "Effin Jets fans". True story. As a lifelong fan it does seem almost too good to be true and I fight the "other shoe must drop" feeling all true Jet fans must have at this point. Sopne and I will be at the Broncos game in early Oct. To quote a former Jet, "Can't wait".

Correct me if I am wrong because I am far too lazy to check, but didnβt Bridgewater play against backups the entire time he was in? He may have been playing with backups but playing against backups isnβt an even comparison.
