Funny, the conversations with my wife usually go something along the lines of -- "honey, you know I don't give a rats ass about your fucking Jets, but you know, no matter how much you get your hopes up they are always going to suck in the end. You go through this all the time -- get your hopes up only to be crushed. I love you, but if you think the Jets are ever going to win anything, you are an idiot. Go Giants!!"
She doesn't give a shit about the Giants either, but she know it pisses me off, so she always adds something about them. That's pretty harsh. How long have you been plotting your revenge? Going on 30 years now...

Darnold and Sanchez couldn't be any more different. Sanchez was surrounded by talent basically just had to throw the ball in the air or hand it off. If Sanchez was out here this pre season it be a horror show My point is - no use taking years off the kids career when we have ZERO chance to win. Let McCown get killed them bring Sammie in week 9 to develop for next year. And if you think I’m wrong, take that $8K you’ve been posing with and bet it on the jets to make the playoffs. This conversation is pointless as Darnold IS starting the season. So, argue and disagree, but he's starting Monday night in Detroit. Let's go Darnold. He's the only exciting thing worth watching on this dead team walking. No offensive playmakers at all, just a bunch of no bodies that couldn't start on any other team in the league. Darnold vs. Detroit week 1. Darnold vs. Dolphins week 2, etc. etc. Hopefully the NY Darnolds can win a few games this year.

Especially now knowing that the Jets didn't make a single claim for a cut OL. Darnold is being forced to start his career with one arm tied behind his back. This is irresponsible on Mac and Toilets part.

But could you give me 5 names of OL cut/waived that are verifiable better, not just different, then the lugs we already have?

Sean Harlow and Jonathan Cooper at G and Kouandjio from the Broncos were the only names I saw that weren't basically PS material. But I also couldnt argue that they are appreciably better than what we already have on the roster. Nico Siragusa is a big dude, but he's coming off a knee injury. I said it in an earlier post, you're not finding game changer OL getting cut now, and if they are, why would they come here, unless we vastly overpay? GOTTA GOTTA GOTTA draft the big fatties next season.

The point is he shouldn't have waited this long to begin with. You'd have to be a complete dingbat not to know that the Jets needed help on the OL. It's been the very most glaring need for this team since Mac arrived. Not saying you're a dingbat, you obviously knew as much as anyone but now you're trying to defend his negligence.

I wish you crybabys would stop whining about our Oline. Sam is like that big eye in the sky from the Lord of the Rings and sees everything. On top of that he was blessed with Fred Astairs feet and will dance away from any threat. He is gonna be one of the least sacked Qbs in the league.

Well thats def the hope, because if not, his tenure with the Jets will be like a flat tire and maybe he even leaves for a better gig that actually values anything besides defense (excluding pass rushers, who needs a pass rusher anyways!) once his rookie deal is up. Completely criminal how these morons have cmpletely neglected the O line, yet have used insane amounts of capitol on the D Line.... and now almost all of that is a waste seeing as they can't even figure out who the good ones on the damn roster are. They should be required to ONLY use their 2nd round picks on O Line for the next 20 years. Every single one of the 2nd rounders they use sucks ass anyways. Pure ass. Golly Bill I hate the jets

I understand your point, but all this hand-wringing is moot. Kid is gonna play with what's in place, for better or worse. Would we all like to see the deck stacked better for him? Sure, but it's not, so....

I’d rather watch PBS.

Just hear me out on this before I get tarred and feathered... 1) the defense for me still has some things to clean up. Despite not giving up a touchdown they still commit a lot of penalties and the biggest problem this defense has always had - turnovers. This defense sucks when it comes to generating turnovers. This is a problem that goes all the way back to Rex. This defense was 25th overall last season meanwhile the defense is loaded with talent. There's a lot of new faces on this defense and not very good chemistry that I can tell. 2) The OL is a huge problem. Unless Mac manages to trade for a decent OL I have no problem predicting this OL is going to get one or more QB's hurt. There's still a good possibility that some of the starters won't even be healthy enough to start come opening day. 3) The ST's is horrid. This unit is terrible in regards to both talent and coaching. They give up big plays one right after another. There are no Leon Washington's or Brad Smith's waiting to be discovered on this ST. Why not wait on starting Darnold and go with veteran savvy and established leadership qualities in Ted Bridgewater? We all know he's the best QB on the roster right now. His accuracy is off the charts. By starting Bridgewater we not only can further build his brand in the event of a trade, but there are also a number of great advantages besides. The entire team can gel faster and build more chemistry under a proven leader like Ted. McCown, our QB coach, will have more time to prep Darnold for his eventual start. The defense can work on their problems with turnovers and penalties and become a better , more finished unit when Darnold starts. Maybe something, ANYTHING, can be done with the ST's? Right now they look like a fucking disaster and in time they can only get better. Doesn't it make the most sense to send Darnold out there when this team is playing at it's very best and most conducive to Darnold being successful and building his confidence? Start Darnold after about 4 to 6 games, maximize Bridgewaters trade value before the deadline and have this team playing at it's very best when Toilet makes the change? To me, that would be maximizing the Jets chances at succeeding and winning more than 5 games in 2018. Your thoughts?? I get what you're saying.
But he can't gain experience by sitting.
If I had my way, I would start him against the Dolphags AT HOME instead.
Let Josh take the early season hits in Detroit.
