My Aunt's in Wilmington...riding it out with neighbors...a little worried about her decision... She have nobody else she can stay with inland? Also, if she's gonna go she should leave now. doesn't want to leave her house...half her block is riding it out...

I am in Raleigh. You would think we were all gonna fucking die over the weekend. The conditions are ripe for damage. We have had an extremely wet spring and summer. Wont take much wind to knock down the pines. The state has done a tremendous amount of work since being caught flat footed in '96 with Fran. Tree trimming, sewer building and cleaning. Unfortunately the state has had 20% + population growth year over year in the same 22 years. The coast is absolutely fucked. They are calling for it to stall once it hits Wilmington, for up to 36 hours of 20 foot storm surge and over 25 inches of rain. Not to mention sustained winds in the 40's for a good part of that time as well. We will begin to get patients from New Hanover tomorrow. Gonna be a weekend in the office for sure. My queen air mattress is already in place across from my desk. I did have to evac the table and chairs to make room but I want a quiet place to sleep. Fuck you Flo bitch!!! Isn’t Wilmington a dump? Feel bad for all those outer bank beach houses. Not not at all.

Marines stationed in Wilmington, or is that Jacksonville? Jacksonville is 6 miles away from Camp Lejeune.

I've never gone through a hurricane but have seen the destruction (Hurricane Ike - Galveston) Anybody who had a chance to get out but would stay through one of these storms is an idiot.
