I am not 100% sure we can put football down as the sole or even partial fault for Namath having Dementia, I would have to lump in Cocaine and drinking as the major cause first and then back into Football.

If this was true was true there'd be a whole lot more folks in the nursing homes and wondering the streets. Many do/did not have his rep as a playboy/party animal. They still have it.

Very sad. Has Joe ever been asked if he could go back in time what would he do? Football has given him a great life. Football has changed the trajectory of lives for men and their families. I'm not answering for Joe, but he was offered a MLB contract by the Chicago Cubs. Therefore, presenting him with this option after the fact, he could say yes he wouldn't play football. I believe he's previously said if he had sons he would not encourage them to play football. The bottom line is that while he probably would of been a good MLB player, he never would of achieved the fame and fortune he achieved with the Jets.
