Not saying if the tactic of going with a "proven" coach is the right or wrong way but for those of you that feel this is the way to go how do you justify that tactic with how the Raiders are doing with Grudden? For those on the other side do you feel Grudden's lack of success with a team that had been playing pretty well and just needed that little push to be very good justifies going for an up and coming talent instead like the Eagles with Pederson and the Rams with McVay?
Or is it all situational based and the coach is a small cog in the overall machine?

Of course, the Jets have been getting the crap.

Nobody comes to mind that is not a retread and wants to actually coach again.

next coach plz be offensive...and not in a bad way... Eh, I’m not buying that whole offensive/defensive coach. Look at chip kelley. All I want is any coach who just knows what the fuck they’re doing out there. Period.

Always back to "What is the true cost?" Looking directly at the Raiders: KMack was the Franchise; big tough unstoppable. They have a gritty QB; like Snake. Management made a big change and, now, how does any Raider feel comfortable? They are going to be a step behind, until the season is over.

The Eagles have 2 Head Coaches; the DC is Schwartz who is fantastic. When the Jets did well? Parcells+Belidick and Ryan+Callahan(D&O)...plus the SB Jets had 3 head coaches in that run - Ewbank, Michaels and Buddy Ryan.

I always viewed the head coach position as the CEO, mouth piece, ass kicker and motivator of a team. That being said the head coach needs to have really a competent coaching staff he trusts, are loyal to him and understand exactly what he wants and expects. Also, the assistant coaches, coordinators and lesser personnel need to respect the head coach and his vision. All of these moving parts sound fairly easy to accomplish but they’re not. In my opinion I don’t think Bowles fits my vision of a HC.
