It's 830am and I'm awake and bored and it's never too early for fans to think ahead. Is Darnold now a a drawing factor for potential free agent acquisitions? Our rookie QB has demanded respect from all types of players and I think big ticket guys will see us as a destination on the doorstep of big success. I have and continue to believe that we should put all of our assets this off-season into pass rushers and offensive linemen. Then my heart was crushed when my number one target Ali Marpet signed an extension with the bucs. So here are some other interesting names and their teams cap situation
Clowney... But Texans will have at least 90 million in cap space DeMarcus Lawrence... But cowboys will have 70million in cap space Cameron Wake... But dolphins may have 30+ in space Shaquill Barrett.. but broncos have 30+ in space.. but they also have Chubb and Miller.. could be in market for QB upgrade which could force a nice defender free from them. Clay Matthews.. but Packers somehow have 45 million ... Matt slauson.. but colts have over 100 wtf. Roger saffold... But Rams somehow have 30
So basically every good free agent is probably going to stay with their team. What will we do with our nearly league leading cap space? The only teams with under 20 million in space are jaguars, Vikings, Steelers, eagles, and bucs.. so we will need to steal their players. Giants are at 20 but if Eli moves on...
Chance warmack? Jordan Matthews? Eagles may cut center to save money?
Donovan Smith from.the bucs?
Donte Fowler or Josh Wells from jags?
Anthony Barr from Vikings? They also seem to have a lot of OL that will be available.
I think the only surefire way to acquire a top level talent is through some sort of trade scenario. Otherwise we are doing the usual BigMac thing of looking at those young, mid tier, second contract players like the names above and hoping we hit a home run somewhere in the draft. We may have to wait until fukin 2020 for that big FA splash

This is the best post all year. then create a better one. I wasn’t being sarcastic. This is truly the best post. 2019 matters. 2018 is irrelevant for the Jets. Now go piss your pants.

What this post shows is that there is more money in the league than talent. That’s a problem.

What this post shows is that there is more money in the league than talent. That’s a problem. That is true. Makes drafting well SO critical. FA prices are insane.

I don’t think QB as a draw matters. Only money matters.
Like always
