Even though the season didn’t go the way we wanted it to, I’m really excited about this team and where we’re headed.
The year has gone by so fast.
It feels like forever ago my first pass went the other way for six in Detroit. Actually, after I threw that pass, I think I was smiling as I was walking back to the sideline. I was just like, "Man, of course this happens to me." It’s the worst possible thing that could’ve happened, but I was really proud of the way we responded. I think it showed a lot about us.
We didn’t win as many games as we wanted to, but I feel like I got a lot out of it. Coming into this year, I had big expectations to win and do well. I expected to have some adjusting to do and learn on the run as I got used to the NFL game. It’s different, a lot different than college.
I definitely wasn’t as consistent as I wanted to be, especially in the beginning of the season. We went on a two-game winning streak, we were 3-3 and went on a losing streak, which sucked. Then I got hurt and threw four picks against Miami, and then I had to sit out and not play. It killed me not being able to make up for it.
I think I played a lot better after I got back. I thought the offense played better in the final stretch, which makes me feel optimistic about where this team is headed. I love the guys in the locker room. I’m just very excited about where we’re going and love all the guys for all the hard work they’ve put in day in and day out.
Everyone here is a part of a little family and it’s awesome to just be able to come here and feel a part of something. Yes, we haven’t done as well as we wanted to, but I think the coolest part is getting up every single day and looking forward to coming to work. I think that’s really cool.
For me, moving forward, it’s about continuing to grind and continuing to stay ready and play well. I think the biggest thing is staying consistent because then you know the coaches know exactly what they’re getting out of you and your teammates know exactly what they’re getting out of you day in and day out. I think that’s the biggest thing when it comes to continuing to be a good quarterback at a high level.
I think there were a lot of good things that we can look back on this year and say, "Okay. We need to continue to do that." Obviously, there are some things we shouldn’t do moving forward. I think as long as we continue to have a core of leaders that can tell guys what to do and what not to do, tell guys this is how we do things and we don’t do this around here, as long as we have guys that can set the culture, I think as long as we keep that core group tight, we’re going to be all right.
To the fans: You’re awesome. You can really give it to us when we’re not playing well, but I love that. It really fires me up and makes me want to play better. I know it makes the guys in the locker room want to play better and play well and win every single Sunday because of it. It makes it fun to go out there and play football because you’re really invested in this team, in this organization.
I’m already excited to get back to work because I do feel like I was playing at a pretty high level. We have unfinished business. Let’s attack the offseason, come back in the spring and then in the fall start stacking some wins.
This organization deserves it, the fans deserve it, this whole Jets community deserves it. We’re looking forward to doing that.
>>> God damn it. Love this kid. We have a keeper here.

I think the paragraph before what you bolded was even more significant; he's setting the tone that this is his team moving forward, regardless of the coach. While Adams is certainly in the conversation as the "we" he refers to, Adams himself has already said it's about making Sam great.

Mac needs to get the FUCK out of the way and so does Johnson and Johnson

I read the whole thing and my first visceral thought was..."Oh God....another great player the Jets organization will chew up and spit out until ultimately he's a 50 year old standing at some bullshyte half-time ceremony next to Dennis Byrd and Marty Lyons trying to act happy to be there because they flew him in for free...economy".
Then I thought... Ragootz has a podcast coming up with Bond and Gata so I have that going for me...which is nice.

"...makes me feel optimistic about where this team is headed..." We hook them, when they're young and eager. And then we crush their souls. Jets Football.

Meh nothing really interesting in what he said. I think the most glaring point is not one word for Bowles who'd just been fired.

Zombie Dennis Byrd would be the best halftime show in years....

Fucking guy fights to go from paralyzed to walking again, then dies in a car accident. Life can be fucked up sometimes.
