The correct answer is yes. Yeah... his crown jewel is about 5 halfway decent games of brock osweiler. You're right. He sucks.

Don’t forget Tannehill. That guy was fucking awesome under Gates tutelage. He actually was pretty good under Gase on the rare occasion that he was actually on the field. Gase was having to dick around with jags like Matt Moore and Osweiler for much of the last two years. Him working with a 21 year old talent like Darnold is actually pretty damn intriguing. Miami roster talent better than the Jets, and this tool bag went 23-25. At least he beat the Jets a bunch. Oh, wait....

Meh.
If we hired McCarthy...it would have been "he only got one ring with Favre and Rodgers".

Sell the team Johnson’s. The most critical hire in franchise history since Weeb and they gave us Adam cunting Gase?

On the bright side:
This is the first hire with HC experience since Parcells in 1997.
Gase is also likely to push for an offensive draft and free agents - feels like we haven’t had that since 1997 either.
Recall that most people here were likely equally pissed when Beli was (briefly) hired and when Carroll was hired. So, we don’t really know - things have to play out.
We probably all chuckled - I certainly did - when Anthony Lynn got the HC job in SD.

I don’t think he wants guys that love OR hate a/the coach. That’s from the DN article on Gase yesterday - and I think it’s not a bad perspective. Coaches shouldn’t worry too much about being ‘liked’. Players like winning - and they like any coach they win with. And if they lose and still like him, well we don’t want him either. Jamal Adams was pretty clear that he felt Jets (still) needed a culture change.

www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/barry-jackson/article223482025.htmlLet’s be clear about this: The narrative that former Dolphins coach Adam Gase was widely disliked by his team is not accurate. Gase had a lot of supporters in that locker room. He established strong relationships with several veterans. Several of them waited outside his office to wish him well after his dismissal Monday. Wide receiver Albert Wilson, who missed the final nine games with a hip injury, tweeted: “A full year, I could have shown how much of a genius he was.” But no team has a roster in which all 53 players like the coach, and Gase is no exception. There were also some complaints raised by players who personally liked him. Some of what has been told from the locker room: ▪ One complaint voiced by players about Gase is that he didn’t necessarily stick with what was working in games. One player said the team would be running the ball successfully, and Gase inexplicably then started throwing it. One sentiment we heard: Gase wanted to fool the other team but sometimes ended up outsmarting himself. That frustrated some players. ▪ Another view expressed from the locker room: Gase wasn’t as emotionally level as a head coach needed to be at times. One player said if a play-call didn’t work, he sometimes let it carry over for several minutes and was out of sorts emotionally. That player said a more level, a more even emotional approach would have been preferred. ▪ As ESPN’s Cameron Wolfe tweeted, “a few guys told me [they] felt alienated and held to a different standard if they weren’t one of ‘his guys’ like Ryan Tannehill and others.” That’s something we’ve also heard. That said, Gase — until the awful final three weeks — probably extracted as much as most anyone could from an injury-depleted roster. Gase ultimately was betrayed by faith in Tannehill, faith in Jay Cutler the previous season and personnel missteps. He made some good choices along the way, too — including Wilson and Frank Gore. But he too often gravitated to players with whom he had a history (Cutler, Brock Osweiler, Julius Thomas) and few of those played up to expectations. I expect Gase to be a better coach his second time around because he’s smart and creative. It would have been interesting to see what he could have done with a new quarterback.

Peyton did have a helluva year with him as OC. I’m convinced that most were going to hate anyone not named Mike McCarthy lol. And I feel like a shitload of people were making McCarthy out to be something he’s not. McCarthy does not run some innovative, aggressive offense. That’s just total bullshit. Like I said before, he was mentored by guys like Marty “Marty Ball” Schottenheimer and Paul “let’s call a RB draw on 3rd and 12” Hackett. Aaron Rodgers routinely escaping out of the pocket and pulling a Houdini out of his ass was mostly how the Packers picked up their chunk plays over the last decade, not because of McCarthy’s genius playcalling. Gase is actually the one who is considered the wizard x’s and o’s guy. He just doesn’t have a ring from a decade ago nor did he have the incredible fortune of having back to back HOF QB’s carry him over the last 13 years. Gase isn’t a perfect hire, but he’s definitely solid. Everyone wanted an offensive minded coach who works well with QB’s. Well...we got that. His name just isn’t Mike McCarthy
