Say what you want about the bounty stuff, but I thought this shit was great. Dude is old school and aggressive as fuck. A lot of people act shocked by this, but it’s the kind of stuff that was commonplace until maybe 15-20 years ago. Hell I had an assistant coach back in HS who would talk like this in the locker room.

No It’s from before Sean Payton and Gregg Williams were suspended for the Bounty Gate thing. He’s talking about guys like Crabtree, Smith and Gore when they played for the 49ers. That was years ago.

Jesus the guy is a psychopath. I like most of it as hyperbole but get the feeling this is a guy who lacks a safe-word.
Hard to root for him. Though maybe he's 'matured' a bit - he did very well with CLE down the stretch.

We pretty much need to get him now, since our only three reported candidates were Vance Joseph (who signed with Arizona), Chuck Pagano (who signed with the Bears) and Williams.
Now that Williams is perceived to be the best remaining candidate, we can't screw around with our negotiations with him like we did with Chan Gailey a few years back. If you remember, it initially was reported that it was pretty much a foregone conclusion that he'd take the OC job under Todd Bowles in 2015. It took almost a week for us to finalize the deal, though, because we apparently lowballed him on the offer. And, say what you will about Gailey's career, but he was phenomenal with Ryan Fitzpatrick that year and almost got us into the playoffs.
I'm iffy on the Gase hire in general, but I'll really be against it if we don't get an elite defensive coordinator. If we get Williams, that would enable Gase to almost fully concentrate on offense. The only thing I worry about is Gase being able to deal with such a strong personality on his staff, but I think the good would outweigh the bad with this hire.

Getting Williams, as far as I'm concerned, would soften the blow of the Jets(or rather Macc-asshole) passing on a more qualified NFL Head Coach.
God knows this Jets team's defense needs a bit of....assistance.

Really hope they seal the deal on this guy soon.
Between J Adams and this guy the culture of that D will be ridiculous.
Flashback to 1 play in particular a couple of seasons ago when Brady scrambled and tip toed past one of our LBs for a 1st down. The LB pulled back from what would have been a totally legit opportunity to wreck the sparklepony. Get the idea Williams would have cut him on the spot.
