So it's clear that Jets fandom has accepted the likely fate of a defensive player in the first round. But most seem to believe it will be bosa, Allen, or Williams with varying levels of excitement for three dominant players, all of whom would undoubtedly boost the overall pass rushing prowess of the team. Allen from the edge, Williams up the middle, bosa a little bit of both. Some may say edge pressure isn't as important as pressure up the middle. What do I know?
But I'm curious how much of a meltdown the board / fans would have if the pick was greedy Williams.
Our own Tony Pauline reported that he is a "perfect" fit in Greg Williams defense and he is the consensus #1 DB on the board
Skrine, Claiborne are potentially goners and Tru is hot garbage. Which makes CB actually a glaring need.
I'm not advocating for greedy, a good friend of Jamal Adams, at #3. But he would certainly be a logical (note, not emotional) pick after any sort of trade down.
So what would you level of anger be? 1 being you'd actually only have a little bit of a cold sweat and 10 being you would likely be arrested for some sort of violent crime

Grab 2 OL in the 2nd and sign Paridis in FA we could have a decent line with a good vet OL to teach the kids how to play. We cannot sacrifice the OL this year. Just an unlikely trade is all. I would be very disappointed if they pick him 3rd overall.

That's pretty much impossible..who even has two seconds? But I agree OL is #1 priority but also acknowledge that they shouldn't reach for a guy, especially since we don't yet know who they will acquire via FA
A trade down to net one second rounder, however, is exponentially more likely. Just depends how far. My guess is they want to stay in the top-10 as much as possible

Aside from last year, the Jets always pick stupid. It’s expected. So no anger here. Not at this point.

Unfortunately none of them drafts in the top 10-15 in the first, so you'd be dropping too far to pick up those seconds, unless someone in the top 10 made another deal first to acquire a 2nd rounder.

I have more confidence in this coaching staff than I have in a long while, so they get a pass from me this year. However, check back with me after the draft: I may have a completely different take.

Agreed. I was just answering the question, who has TWO second rounders. With the value of picks, a 1st and 2 2nds would be too much, but hey, thats what was suggested. As far as the original question, if they trade down, I consider Greedy. If they stay at 3, no way. I take either Allen, my preference, or the other Williams, assuming Bosa is off the board. I can live with either of those if they pick at 3.

The winning formula in this era is scoring TD's and holding your opponent to FG's, because they're going to score too, that's just how the rules dictate. But this coke bottle glassed, dumb mofo of a "GM" still doesn't realize it. This cunt always goes for the CONSENSUS pick to try to protect the job he should have never been given. I could see this guy who looks like he belongs on the end of a dive bar as a regular picking a CB when there is no such thing as a shut down corner anymore. I really hope Gase/Williams blow up on this idiot. 1 Affirmative Action coach down and 1 more idiot to go....then and ONLY then will the Jets be on the best path. You keep this idiot in place he's going to waste Darnold's first few years, which would be a tragedy, maybe even get him seriously hurt. Nice Center you brought in Maccagnan firing snaps over the head and in the dirt of the only player of importance on the squad, and Bowles scared to play only Vets to try to protect his job sends said Center out to do what he did 9 consecutive games, some lineman could have fallen on Darnold's arm destroying it while he chased another bad snap.

I agree with you for the most part, but 2 of the past 3 years, a corner went in the top 5. And an OL went top 5 in 2015. Other than that, yes, its been DE/QB/WR/RB in the top 5. Im actually surprised, looking back over the past few years, that so many RBs went in the top 5. Great players all of them, but short shelf lives for sure.
